Re: Basgooner - Don’t pick up the soap
Can't be local as Albany & Parkhurst aren;t for minor offences Camp Hill was but it closed Minor offences? According to the judge, Basgooner's crimes were "very serious offences". They live in a different world to us ordinary folk. They are just annoyed that somebody who isn't a corpo...

Re: Basgooner - Don’t pick up the soap
This is disgusting. So I want to buy a DVD of the 1992 Embassy and the guy selling it can be jailed? Effing hell. So ok it was copyrighted but who was he denying income? Who else was filling the market? A scandalous arrest, a scandalous case and a scandalous sentence if he goes to prison. No doubt ...

Re: Basgooner - Don’t pick up the soap
It will be 4000 orders which probably included lots of multiple discs Really? As he was selling DVDs from April 2004 to March 2017, 4,000 DVD orders in that timeframe would mean almost 26 orders per month! Surely nobody could do that much? And the link mentioned a 9 year period rather than the 12 y...

Re: Basgooner - Don’t pick up the soap
https://www.12cp.co.uk/conviction-for-copyright-offences/ I found a link with some more information. It says that Basgooner received over £107,000 in payments, and sold nearly 4,000 DVDs, although it only talks about 9 years rather than 13 years. Apparently, confiscation orders are ongoing, probabl...

Re: Basgooner - Don’t pick up the soap
Maybe someone who bought one can implicate themselves and state how much they paid ;) Don't you mean implicate him, i.e. implicate the guy now serving an 18 month jail sentence and who the law already knows to have made over £107,000 from DVD sales? Can you, or anybody else, show us a past case in ...

Re: Basgooner - Don’t pick up the soap
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I can gather, being in possession of counterfeit CDs/DVDs isn't illegal, nor is buying counterfeit CDs/DVDs (even knowingly so), at least in the UK. In regards to possession and buying, the law here urges people not to buy counterfeit goods, talks of the risk o...

Re: Gerwyn Price fined £21,500
The DRA can't even enforce their own rulebook regarding Anderson going into the exclusion zone more than once and shoving Price on the oche.

Re: Gerwyn Price fined £21,500
This ruling from the DRA is absolutely outrageous. As far as I'm concerned, only Gary Anderson broke rules in that final. He was entering the exclusion zone pretty often during the match before Gerwyn Price had even started walking to retrieve his darts, and he shoved Price on the oche. What did Pri...

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
Regarding Mike Gregory, he did look excellent when he won the 1995 European Masters at Lakeside on the BBC. It makes it all the more bizarre that his form then declined so sharply.

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
The Barney switch is what opened the floodgates to the PDC gaining massive strength in depth, by massively accelerating the already existing process of players moving to the PDC. Barney does seem to be at the centre of a lot of big shifts in dynamics in the darts world, like his 1998 Embassy win sta...

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
So, are we agreed that: 1. The PDC always had the vast majority of the best players in the world (nearly all pre-split TV major winners). 2. The BDO up until 2001 had the greater strength in depth, due to the apparatus built up by the past boom years in 1970s and 1980s, the court case 1993-1997, and...

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
Think of all the TV major winners from before the split. Nearly all of them were with the WDC/PDC from the start. The PDC always had the vast majority of the best players in the world. The BDO had the best strength in depth until 2001, but only because of three factors. The first factor was that for...

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
From memory Walton won the Scottish, Belgium, Welsh and English Opens and a few other things around 2000 - 2001as well as the Winmau and Lakeside. He was the player to beat in the BDO during this time which imo, despite Taylor and Priestly had more of the best players in the world and greater stren...

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
All very nice but did they win anything though other than Taylor and Priestley?? Taylor won the vast majority of TV majors on his own. He didn't leave many for other players to win. PDC TV major winners up until Barney's switch in February 2006: 1994 World Championship: Dennis Priestley 1994 World ...

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
PT13 - but Taylor and Priestley were the youngest of the defectors and what did Lowe, etc do after 1994?? At the 1995 World Championship, Lowe beat Priestley 3-0 in sets by winning 9-0 in legs. Lowe got to the semi finals, where Taylor beat him 5-4, including a spell of around 15 legs where no play...
