Re: BDO Gold Cup and Champions Cup 29-30 June, Rotherham
It was stiflingly hot in there by the time the pairs started on Saturday - our opponents in first round asked if we minded them drinking water during the game (both had still sealed bottles just bought from bar), which of course we agreed to. Our game was on the other side of the room to the contro...

Re: Rileys UK Open Qualifiers?
There’s 10 boards at Norwich, and all 10 were used thank god! Still took the best part of 10 hours, and was gone 7pm by time first round ended. That said, it was thankfully very well run as always - else we could probably still be there now...

192 at Norwich today, for 1 qualifying place which was won by Jason Mold for the fourth time. Final first round game started at about 6.30, I left to catch the last train out of town at 10pm having just played my last 16 game. Long old day, but thankfully very well run.

Re: Rileys UK Open Qualifiers?
181 registered as of yesterday morning for Saturday's qualifier at Norwich - could well be many more by close of today. All playing for one qualifying place - a fair old achievement whoever gets through that lot. Could be a long old day - may have to take a sleeping bag in case of getting through a ...

Re: Rileys UK Open Qualifiers?
You get the full range of abilities and performances - normally some good county standard and higher players, lots of decent super league and pub level players, even more not decent pub level players, and some that look like they've never played before in their lives. You could end up with a game th...

Re: BICC weekend 1st & 2nd April 2017
Is it only this season that has started to see primary school kids play in county matches? Dont recall it ever happening before. So what is the issue? Is it: - Derbyshire just wanting to trump Lincolnshire's 11 year old by putting a 10 year old on the team, so only done as a "dickwaving" ...

Re: BICC weekend 1st & 2nd April 2017
We had the youngest ever Men's player in the BICC play against us (Suffolk) for Derbyshire at the weekend. 10 year old Henry Coates lost 3-2 in a crackling atmosphere, so fair play to our lad Steve Hayward who held himself together to win when it must have seemed like the world was against him.
