Re: Would you like to see the power return?
I agree he was never the same player when he moved to target. He seemed a lot more accurate when he used his unicorn darts. It’s easy to forget when he moved to Target, he was at the top of his game. But for some reason in the early months they couldn’t get the dart right. I recall especially they ...

Really...?! Ask any player if they would rather win the premier league, or the WGP/UK Open...
Great final. Great respect for that run of five legs to level/lead when Gary was on 17 legs. Not many players could do that.

Re: Wheres Ronnie Baxter
I remember Baxter beating Taylor 13-10 in the quarters of the Matchplay. Taylor was 9-5 up averaging 105 when Ronnie went on a run to defeat Taylor, who uncharactericly missed doubles and “bottled it”. Cracking game. Baxter went on to lose to Harrington in the final having had a dart at tops for 64 ...

Re: The 5th BDO World Darts Trophy 30 May - 3 June 2018 Preston - Discussion
Some of the posts on here about taking the BDO forward demonstrate the issue. They focus on things like TV channels, playing formats, wildcards, prize money etc. All this is the WRONG place to start. The sad thing is the same calibre of people appear to be making the decisions. Darts people are not ...

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
Well I hereby offer my own hypotheses. Taylor would have won everything he did regardless. Reasons: 1. He won twice in a unified field out of four attempts. 2. When given a head to head champions clash vs a BDO player, he won. As if this is not proof enough.. 3. He faced the highest average from an ...

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
So the argument is, the players who had previously occupied the top ranked positions and won the world title, suddenly became inferior. The proof being the averages? Hmm

Re: World Champions down the years: BDO v Taylor
Agreed.. so sticking to facts..
All bar one of the top seeds in 1993 left the BDO
More than half the quarter finalists from the period 91-93 left.
Every single world champion (bar one retired) left

How many of the top 16 ranked players remained with the BDO?
How many WC winners remained with the BDO?

Re: 2018 BDO World Championship- Lakeside- 6th-14th January
All this contract talk is bull as well. Name any job that does not have contracts. In my industry we have retainers, paid annually, often substantiall % of your pay package... guess what, people still move... it’s called ambition. Of course some people stay because of the retainer, I will let you gu...

Re: 2018 BDO World Championship- Lakeside- 6th-14th January
I don’t know everyone is so bothered. Much like Adams, any man who claims to be a world champion without beating the best players in the world just looks daft in my view (no matter what their ability). Respect to the Buntings of this world who did the job then took up the real challenge. The real is...

And here in lies part of the problem... Players missing events promoting themselves as they only way they can earn a living that side... Different Orgs clashing events and forcing players to pick. International events that don't feature the best players and very little interest in them.. A bit of a ...

Re: No regrets about deciding to stay in the BDO for Middlesbrough darts star Glen Durrant
One question for Daisy Mac. You mention "world number one" in the interview.. As a clearly talented sportsman, does it not niggle at you that you do not test yourself against the best players in the business (to avoid trolling, I am thinking the elite - say MVG, Taylor, Anderson, Lewis). P...

Sorry folks, I just don't get it... Surely the point is what the BDO boys are NOT doing?
A % of players will always perform below their best, but normally in a "world pro" some would at least be producing world class performances?
By the way, world class is not averaging 93

Re: 2016 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships 2-10 January - Discussion
The trouble with a couple of players averaging in the low to mid 80s, is that the level of "skill" (and hence excitement) required to win a key leg (perhaps a break for a set) is reduced significantly as mistakes are largely unpunished. If player A is throwing 12-15 darts most of the time ...

Re: What is Scott Waites biggest win Lakeside or Grand Slam?
Winning lakeside is clearly massive in terms of exposure, prize money, achievement etc. as others have said, the title of world champion is everything (it should be). Winning the Grand Slam however proved that he is capable of mixing it with some of the best the sport has from either code. In terms ...
