Taylor, the 2008 champion who was the runner-up in last year's Championship League Darts, booked his place in October's big-money Winners Group and claimed £3,100 prize money for his day's work at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex.
The world number one finished second in the round-robin league phase as the eight players battled it out over best of 11 leg games, with Robert Thornton and Mervyn King defeating him with 6-4 scorelines.
Taylor - who twice missed double 12 for a nine-darter during the day - recovered to win his final three matches, dropping only six legs in the process, before defeating Simon Whitlock 6-1 in the semis and Lloyd 6-2 in the final.
Taylor, who also defeated Lloyd in the Group One final in 2008, made a fine start to lead 2-0 before Lloyd got off the mark on double five in the third.
A 64 finish in the fourth was followed by maximums in the next three legs as he moved 5-1 up.
Lloyd matched his 180 on his way to the seventh, but another maximum from Taylor left him 44 in the next, and double 16 secured his win.
Lloyd, who picked up £2,300 on the day, returns for Group Two on Wednesday having followed up Sunday's Players Championship win with a strong display.
He won his opening three matches on the day and finished fourth in the league phase before seeing off King 6-2 in the semis.
King won his first six games, but a defeat to Whitlock in his final game was followed by a play-off defeat as he ran out of steam, although £2,150 prize money softened the blow.
Whitlock, on his Championship League Darts debut, finished third in the league table with five wins from his seven games, while Adrian Lewis and James Wade avoided elimination from the tournament.
That duo defeated Mark Walsh and Robert Thornton in the final round of games to knock that duo out of the competition, with Ronnie Baxter, Gary Anderson and Paul Nicholson coming in for Wednesday's Group Three.

The eight players compete for £50 per leg won in the group phase before prize money increases to £100 per leg in the play-offs, with a place in the Winners Group on offer for the day's champion.

First Set of Games
Phil Taylor made an ideal start to Group One with a 6-2 defeat of James Wade. Taylor opened the game with a 12-dart finish which featured two 180s, and landed further maximums in the next two as he took a 3-0 lead. Back-to-back 180s to open the fourth leg set up a possible nine-darter, but that failed to materialise and two later misses at double 16 allowed Wade to get off the mark on double 13. Taylor won the next two before Wade, who set up a potential nine-dart finish with six perfect darts, took out an 11-darter to pull back to 5-2. Taylor, though, took the next on double eight to secure the win.
Colin Lloyd opened the 2010 Championship League Darts with a 6-4 defeat of Robert Thornton. Lloyd hit a maximum in a 13-darter to break Thornton's throw in the opening leg, and finishes of 93 and 100 helped him into a 3-0 advantage. Thornton took the next two to cut the gap to one, before the pair shared the next four as Lloyd moved 5-4 up, before a 180 for a second successive leg helped him set up double nine for victory.
Simon Whitlock enjoyed an ideal Championship League Darts debut with a 6-1 defeat of Mark Walsh in his opening game. A maximum in the opening leg settled any nerves from the Australian, and he capitalised on missed bullseyes from Walsh in the opening two legs to lead 2-0 before his opponent powered in a 146 finish to get off the mark. A 44 finish gave Whitlock a third leg, and he punished six further misses from Walsh to lead 4-1, with a 100 finish moving him to the brink of victory and double 12 sealing the win and the two points.
Mervyn King came from 4-1 down to defeat Adrian Lewis in a deciding leg in their opening clash. Lewis broke throw to win the opening leg and doubled his lead before King landed double four in the third. Finishes of 81 and double top gave Lewis a 4-1 lead, but King twice punished his misses as he took three in a row to level. Lewis hit a maximum in the ninth, but King led 5-4 only for his opponent to take out 90 with a 25, 25, double top finish to force a decider. King, with the advantage of throw, pulled clear and landed double 16 for the win.
Second Set of Games
Robert Thornton defeated 2008 Championship League Darts winner Phil Taylor 6-4 to pick up his first win of Group One. Taylor hit 180s in the first two legs as he led 2-0, but missed the bull and two darts at double eight in the next as Thornton got off the mark on double top. Thornton levelled thanks in part to a 180 and double ten in the fourth, before Taylor responded with scores of 180 and 177 to open the fifth, hitting two more treble 20s but missing double 12 for a nine-darter - returning to win the leg in ten darts. Thornton hit double nine to level and replied to an 11-darter to post double top and level at four-all. A missed double top from Taylor in the ninth gave the Scot a chance on double 12, after a 159 score left him 24, and he then took out 112 to take the win.
Mervyn King claimed a second successive victory, defeating Mark Walsh 6-3. King broke throw in the opener on double nine before the pair traded double top finishes, and a 100 finish from Walsh saw him level in the fourth. The next two were shared, but King won the seventh against the darts with an 84 finish, landed double eight in the next for a 5-3 lead and sealed the win on double 18.
Adrian Lewis bounced back from his deciding-leg defeat to Mervyn King with a 6-3 win over Simon Whitlock. The pair traded breaks of throw in the opeing two legs, before Lewis stepped in after two misses from the Australian to lead 2-1. Whitlock levelled, but Lewis won the next three to move 5-2 up, only to then miss three darts for the win as the World Championship finalist won a third leg to stay in the game. Lewis, though, was not to be denied and once again posted double top in sealing the win.
Colin Lloyd won a dramatic final-leg clash with James Wade, who hit back from 5-3 down to level but missed two darts for the match in the 11th leg. Lloyd held the initial advantage with two break of throw to lead 2-1, only for Wade to punish a missed bull in the fourth to level and then land double top for a 3-2 cushion. Lloyd took the sixth and a superb 11-darter saw him break throw before a 96 finish put him 5-3 up. Double top gave Wade the ninth, and after Lloyd missed double eight for the match the left-hander took out 136 to force a deciding leg. Lloyd opened with a 180 but Wade posted a 140 and was first to a finish, leaving 96 but missing two darts at double 18 before the Essex star posted tops for the win.
Third Set of Games
Mervyn King won his third successive match, defeating Robert Thornton 6-2 to remain unbeaten in Group One. The duo shared the first two legs before King hit top gear, winning the third on double top and hitting 180s in the next two to lead 4-1, before a host of missed doubles from the Scot allowed him into a four-leg lead. He added another maximum in the seventh, but missed double four and double two for victory as Thornton remained in the contest, but a fourth maximum from King pushed him ahead in the eighth and a 121 finish sealed a comprehensive win.
Phil Taylor came from 4-0 down to defeat Mark Walsh 6-5 and avoid a second successive defeat. Walsh performed superbly in taking command against the world number one, opening with an 11-darter against the throw and also securing a second break in leg three with a 107 finish after a second 180 - while double top in the fourth moved him 4-0 up. Double ten got Taylor off the mark and he broke in the next to halve the deficit. Walsh landed double 12 to move a leg away from the win, but missed double top in the next two as Taylor hit back to 5-4, before taking out a pressure 108, with Walsh on 40, to set up a deciding leg. Taylor turned the screw with opening scores of 137 and 140 in the final leg, with an opening 22 from Walsh handing him the advantage as he took out double top for a 13-darter to snatch victory.
Colin Lloyd produced the first whitewash of the 2010 Championship League Darts, powering to victory against Adrian Lewis. Double top gave Lloyd the first leg and he then secured an immediate break of throw on double ten, before punishing missed doubles from Lewis to take the next two and a 4-0 lead. A 72 finish gave Lloyd a fifth leg, and after two further misses from Lewis he finished 80 on the bull to wrap up a third straight win in Group One.
Simon Whitlock claimed his second win of the day, matching Lloyd's 6-0 win with a whitewash of his own against James Wade. Whitlock broke throw in the opening leg on double five before doubling his lead and then taking out 81 for a 3-0 lead. Double four moved the Aussie 4-0 up and a 64 finish put him to the brink of victory, with a missed bullseye from Wade for a 170 checkout allowing Whitlock back to seal the win on double eight.
Fourth Set of Games
Mervyn King's unbeaten start to Group One continued with a 6-4 defeat of Phil Taylor. Taylor made an explosive start, missing double 12 for a nine-darter in the opening leg of the contest, eventually hitting the bed to take the lead before finishing 133 for a 2-0 cushion. King hit back with a 70 finish and double ten to level, before finishing 132 in the sixth after double eight from Taylor gave him a third leg. Taylor hit 177 to leave 24 in the next, but five missed doubles allowed King back in to break on double ten, and he also took out 81 for a 5-4 lead after Taylor broke on double 16 in the eighth. Taylor, though, could only watch in the next after leaving 36, with King sealing victory in style with a 141 finish.
Mark Walsh claimed his first win of Group One, powering past Robert Thornton 6-1. Walsh bounced back from his early losses in style as he saw off Thornton, who opened the game with a 180 and took the first leg against the throw only to see his opponent reel off six in a row for the win. The Scot missed three darts to take the second leg, with double top allowing Walsh to break back before double 16 and double eight finishes put him 3-1 up. He hit a 180 and double top to take the fifth before punishing a missed double top from Thornton to hit the same bed and lead 5-1, before taking out 82 with a bullseye, double 16 combination to seal the win.
James Wade picked up his first victory of Group One, defeating Adrian Lewis 6-3 in their fourth match. The game's opening four legs went with the throw, with Lewis hitting a ten-darter in the fourth after successive 180s set up a potential nine-dart finish. Wade won the fifth and then broke on double 12 for the next, before double top moved him 5-2 clear. Tops for Lewis kept him in the game, but Wade hit the same bed in the next to secure the points.
Simon Whitlock inflicted a first defeat of the day on Colin Lloyd with a 6-2 victory which earned him a third two-pointer of the group. Whitlock made a sensational start to win the first four legs without having a dart at a double - the Australian hitting double 12, 18 and top at the first time of asking to move 3-0 up and double 16 in the fourth. Lloyd posted double six to get off the mark, and also won leg seven with a 114 finish to pull back to 5-2. But Whitlock's scoring took him clear in the eighth, as he landed a 13th 140-plus score of the game before posting double four to seal victory.
Fifth Set of Games
Unbeaten Mervyn King came from 3-0 down to win six successive legs and defeat Colin Lloyd, who suffered a second successive loss. Lloyd made an ideal start to lead 3-0, hitting double top in the first leg and punishing a miss at the same bed from King to break in the second and then taking out 70 for the third leg. King posted a 180 in taking the fourth, and six misses from Lloyd proved costly as double ten saw King pull back to 3-2. King hit a 177 in the sixth as he levelled, and a bullseye finish for 81, with Lloyd sat on a double, put him into the lead for the first time. Double eight gave King a 5-3 lead before he took the next to secure the win.
Phil Taylor picked up his third triumph of Group One with a 6-2 win over Simon Whitlock. Taylor took out 108 and 80 to win the first two legs before Whitlock traded maximums and landed double 16 for the third - Taylor actually hitting six perfect darts but unable to complete a nine-darter for the third time in the day. Taylor hit a 177 and took out 125 for the fourth leg, which was followed by an 11-darter as he moved 4-1 up. Whitlock fired in a 12-darter, which featured an 82 finish, to win a second leg but was waiting on a finish when Taylor took out 103 for a 5-2 lead, before the world number one checked out 84 for the game.
James Wade edged out Mark Walsh in a deciding leg, as the Hertfordshire man saw a 4-0 lead slip away for the second time in the day. Walsh, like he had against Phil Taylor two games earlier, made a fine start by trading 177s with the left-hander in the opening leg before punishing six misses from his opponent to post double nine for the lead. Double top and double five gave Walsh the next two legs, and a 102 finish moved him 4-0 up, a lead which could have been extended had he landed tops in the fifth, as Wade hit the bed to get off the mark. Double 12 and double ten gave Wade the next two, before tops from Walsh put him 5-3 up. Walsh, though, missed four darts for the match in the next as Wade finished 68 on double ten to stay alove, and double top sent the match into a deciding leg. Wade kicked off the decider with a 180, and defied three ton-plus scores from Walsh to land double 12 for a remarkable win.

Sixth Set of Games
Simon Whitlock edged to his fourth win of Group One, after Robert Thornton missed one dart for victory in a dramatic deciding leg to their contest. In a tight match, there was never more than one leg between the pair, with Thornton breaking throw in the third for a 2-1 lead only for Whitlock to take the next two to move 3-2 up. The pair traded maximums in the sixth before the Scot took out 62, while Whitlock took two of the next three to lead 5-4. Thornton won the tenth to force a decider but wired double top for the match as Whitlock returned to hit the bed at the first time of asking for the two points.
Meryvn King picked up a sixth win from as many matches as he held off James Wade's fightback with a 6-4 victory. King won the opening leg on double 18 and broke throw in the second for a 2-0 lead, only to miss one dart for the third as Wade took out 124 to get off the mark. However, the left-hander missed the bull in the fourth and King capitalised, taking out 80 and also winning the next two for a 5-1 advantage. King hit a 170 to sqquare the game in the fourth - the first of this year's event - but could only watch as the Australian took the next three for a 5-2 cushion. Double 16 from King stopped that run, but Whitlock finished 130 on double five to seal his fifth win of the day.
Adrian Lewis eliminated Mark Walsh from the 2010 Championship League Darts and kept himself in the tournament with a 6-5 win in their final league match. Lewis hit a 180 in the first leg but missed nine darts at a double as Walsh took the lead on double top, and he doubled his lead in the second before Lewis hit back to win the next two and level. Double top from Walsh - after Lewis missed two darts in the next - gave him a 3-2 lead, only for the Stoke man to win the sixth and seventh - hitting 180s in both as well as a brace of double top finishes. Walsh levelled at four-all thanks to a maximum and double 16, before Lewis moved a leg away from the win on double top. He opened the next leg with scores of 180, 137 and 180 to leave four after nine darts - but missed three darts at double two and double one to allow Walsh to pile home a 148 finish and force a decider. Lewis, though, hit his sixth maximum of the game to edge clear and sealed a narrow win and a spot in Group Two.
James Wade secured his place in Group Two and also ended Robert Thornton's hopes with a 6-3 victory. Wade made an ideal start to the decisive match by taking the opening three legs, finishing 90 in two darts in the opener, double six and then double ten to assume command. Thornton won three of the next four to cut the gap to 4-3, but Wade punished four misses from the Scot in the next to land double eight and move a leg away from the win. Wade missed his chance for victory in the ninth, but two more misses at double top from Thornton allowed the left-hander back to the oche, and he hit double two to take victory.
Semi-Finals
Colin Lloyd won through to the Group One final with a 6-2 win over Mervyn King, who had finished top of the league table with six wins. King, who had also lost his final league game, paid the price as Lloyd took the opening four legs without reply. After winning the first he landed double 16 for the second against the throw, double ten in the third and double 18 for a 4-0 lead, after King missed double top in the latter. A fine 119 finish from King saw him get on the scoreboard in the fifth, and he returned after missing two darts at double 15 for a 90 finish in the next to hit the bed on his return to the oche after Lloyd missed five darts for the leg. Double ten for Lloyd steadied his nerves as he moved 5-2 up, and a 130 bullseye finish earned him victory.
Phil Taylor reeled off six straight legs against Simon Whitlock to progress to the Group One final with a 6-1 win. Taylor had won the league game between the pair 6-2, and completed a comprehensive double on the day despite Whitlock opening the match with a 65 finish in the first leg. Double top from Taylor levelled before he broke in the third, finished double eight in the fourth and then landed a 90 finish for a 4-1 lead. Another double eight checkout saw him move 5-1 up, and he completed the win in style with a 128 finish on double four.
King ends the day with £2,150 prize money, while Whitlock picked up £1,850 on his Championship League Darts debut.

The Australian star booked his place in October's big-money Winners Group following a solid day of darts at Crondon Park GC in Essex.
Having been a semi-finalist in Group One on his debut in the tournament, he improved further to take £3,100 prize money on Wednesday and remain in the hunt for the £10,000 first prize next month.
Whitlock finished second in the league table after winning five of his seven league games, a feat matched by both Anderson and Adrian Lewis.
Whitlock then defeated Lewis 6-2 in the semis before repeating that scoreline in the decider against Anderson.
He came from a leg down to take four in a row in assuming a 4-1 lead against Anderson, who hit a 180 and a two-dart 84 finish to win the sixth in his best leg of the final.
However, Whitlock matched him blow for blow in the seventh as they traded scores of 140 and 180 before the Australian finished 91 on the bull, before another maximum and double four secured the win.
Anderson, who topped the league table on leg difference after recording whitewash wins over Co Stompe and James Wade during the round-robin league phase, claimed £2,600 prize money on his debut in Championship League Darts.
The Scot defeated Ronnie Baxter 6-2 in the semis, taking a 3-0 lead before the Lancastrian pulled back to within a leg before Anderson, aided by a brace of 180s, won the next three for victory.
Baxter had secured a semi-final place with victory over Colin Lloyd in their final league game, as the Essex ace - Group One's runner-up - ended the day without a win to be eliminated.
Paul Nicholson was also eliminated on his debut in the competition, although only a 6-3 loss to Stompe in their winner-takes-all final league game saw him knocked out by virtue of a bottom-two finish.
Stompe had stepped in to compete on Wednesday morning after Mervyn King was forced to withdraw from the tournament with a heel injury, and the Dutchman lost his first four games.
However, wins over Lloyd, Lewis and Nicholson mean that he now progresses to compete in Group Three on Thursday, with Andy Hamilton, reigning champion Colin Osborne and Alan Tabern also joining the eight-player field.

First Set of Matches
James Wade edged out Co Stompe 6-5 in their opening match. Wade, who had finished sixth in Group One on Tuesday, started well to lead 3-1 against the Dutchman, thanks in part to a break of throw in the third leg. Stompe landed double top in successive legs to hit back and level, but Wade won the seventh against the throw and landed a 180 and double ten to go 5-3 up. Stompe - a late replacement on Wednesday morning for injured Mervyn King - landed a pressure double ten to stay in the game in the ninth, and then punished a missed match dart from Wade to land double 18 and send the game into a decider. Wade, though, pushed clear and landed double top for the win, with Stompe back on 135.

The Scot traded 180s with Lewis before taking the third, and after the Stoke youngster won the fourth Anderson then won two in a row to level, thanks to double two and double top. The next two went against the throw before Lewis won the ninth with a 125 finish - after Anderson missed double top - and then sealed victory on double eight.

Sixth Set of Matches

The Australian star booked his place in October's big-money Winners Group following a solid day of darts at Crondon Park GC in Essex.
Having been a semi-finalist in Group One on his debut in the tournament, he improved further to take £3,100 prize money on Wednesday and remain in the hunt for the £10,000 first prize next month.
Whitlock finished second in the league table after winning five of his seven league games, a feat matched by both Anderson and Adrian Lewis.
Whitlock then defeated Lewis 6-2 in the semis before repeating that scoreline in the decider against Anderson.
He came from a leg down to take four in a row in assuming a 4-1 lead against Anderson, who hit a 180 and a two-dart 84 finish to win the sixth in his best leg of the final.
However, Whitlock matched him blow for blow in the seventh as they traded scores of 140 and 180 before the Australian finished 91 on the bull, before another maximum and double four secured the win.
Anderson, who topped the league table on leg difference after recording whitewash wins over Co Stompe and James Wade during the round-robin league phase, claimed £2,600 prize money on his debut in Championship League Darts.
The Scot defeated Ronnie Baxter 6-2 in the semis, taking a 3-0 lead before the Lancastrian pulled back to within a leg before Anderson, aided by a brace of 180s, won the next three for victory.
Baxter had secured a semi-final place with victory over Colin Lloyd in their final league game, as the Essex ace - Group One's runner-up - ended the day without a win to be eliminated.
Paul Nicholson was also eliminated on his debut in the competition, although only a 6-3 loss to Stompe in their winner-takes-all final league game saw him knocked out by virtue of a bottom-two finish.
Stompe had stepped in to compete on Wednesday morning after Mervyn King was forced to withdraw from the tournament with a heel injury, and the Dutchman lost his first four games.
However, wins over Lloyd, Lewis and Nicholson mean that he now progresses to compete in Group Three on Thursday, with Andy Hamilton, reigning champion Colin Osborne and Alan Tabern also joining the eight-player field.

The eight players compete for £50 per leg won in the group phase before prize money increases to £100 per leg in the play-offs, with a place in the Winners Group on offer for the day's champion.

Adrian Lewis remains unbeaten in Group Two after picking up a narrow 6-5 win over Paul Nicholson. Lewis, though, hit scores of 180, 100 and 180 in the final leg, and had enough breathing space to miss six match darts before sealing the win on double one.
Colin Lloyd saw a 3-0 lead slip away for a second successive game as James Wade battled back for a 6-5 victory. Lloyd, without a win in Group Two so far, opened with a 118 finish and broke on double 16 in the second, before double four gave him a third leg. Wade landed a 180 and double top to win the fourth, and also hit a maximum in the sixth, although double eight had given Lloyd the leg in between as he held a 4-2 cushion. That lead became three legs thanks to double top, but Wade took the eighth and punished a string of missed match darts in the next, while double top forced a decider. Wade landed a 180 in the final leg against the throw, and hit double ten for the win with Lloyd having left 20 without having a dart for the match.
Gary Anderson picked up a second straight victory, following his whitewash of Co Stompe with a 6-1 defeat of Ronnie Baxter. After sharing the first two legs, Anderson found another gear to hit a brace of double top finishes, including the first break of the game, to lead 3-1. Baxter missed double top for a 116 checkout in the fifth, as double seven gave Anderson a reprieve, and the Scot took the sixth against the throw and checked out 120 for the win.
Simon Whitlock's 100% start to Wednesday's play continued as he saw off Co Stompe 6-3. The pair shared the opening four legs before Whitlock produced a 105 checkout to break for a 3-2 lead. Stompe levelled, but a 122 finish from the Australian put him 4-3 up, and he took the next two to seal a third straight victory.
Fourth Set of Matches
James Wade battled from 4-2 down to edge a deciding leg victory against Adrian Lewis in the battle of two unbeaten players. Lewis broke throw in the first leg and landed double eight to move 2-0 up, repeating the finish in the fourth leg after Wade had got himself off the mark. Lewis wasted a handful of chances to win the fifth as double ten brought Wade back to 3-2, although double top gave Lewis a two-leg cushion at 4-2. Wade, though, took out 120 for the seventh and then a brace of double top finishes put him 5-4 up. He missed tops for the game in the next as Lewis hit the bed to force a decider, but Wade pulled clear with the throw to hit tops for the win.
Paul Nicholson inflicted a fourth straight defeat upon Colin Lloyd, taking a 6-4 win to boost his own play-off hopes. In a tight match, the only break of throw came as Nicholson took the tenth leg to claim victory. Lloyd had few chances in the early legs to break, with Nicholson hitting 180s on his own throw twice and a two-dart 76 finish in leading 3-2 before Lloyd levelled with a 66 checkout. Another maximum from Nicholson was followed by a 60 finish before Lloyd posted tops in the eighth to level mattters. But Nicholson hit double five for a 5-4 cushon and made the decisive move in the next, stepping in after a missed bullseye from Lloyd for a 164 finish to post double eight for the points.
Ronnie Baxter picked up his first win of Group Two, and also extended Co Stompe's losing run to four games, with a 6-0 whitewash of the Dutchman. Stompe was given little chance after missing the bull to win the first leg, with a 64 finish from Baxter seeing him break, while a 124 bullseye finish in the third put the Blackpool man 3-0 up. He also took the fourth before a double ten finish saw him break for a third time for a 5-0 lead, before he landed a 177 and a two-dart 77 finish to complete a superb display.
Gary Anderson came from 4-2 behind to inflict Simon Whitlock's first loss of the day in a deciding leg. The game's opening three legs went with the throw before Whitlock broke on double nine in the fourth for a 3-1 lead, Anderson having missed the bull for a 161 finish. Anderson took out 108 to hit back, but Whitlock won the sixth with a 124 finish. Double top and then an 85 checkout from the Scot saw him level, before Whitlock won the ninth and Anderson took the tenth to force a decider, where he hit a 180 and took out 84 on double 11 for the win.
Fifth Set of Matches
Adrian Lewis picked up his fourth win of Group Two with a 6-4 defeat of Gary Anderson. Lewis made a strong start with an 11-darter to break throw before hitting double 12 for a 2-0 lead. The Scot traded 180s with Lewis before taking the third, and after the Stoke youngster won the fourth Anderson then won two in a row to level, thanks to double two and double top. The next two went against the throw before Lewis won the ninth with a 125 finish - after Anderson missed double top - and then sealed victory on double eight.
Simon Whitlock bounced back to winning ways with a 6-3 defeat of James Wade. Wade held his own for the first four legs, hitting a 124 finish in the fourth, before a brace of double 18 finishes moved him 4-2 up and a 98 finish edged him to the brink of victory. Wade hit a 180 and double top to take the eighth, but Whitlock sealed the win in the next.
Co Stompe picked up his first win of Group Two and continued Colin Lloyd's miserable day with a 6-1 win over the Group One runner-up. Stompe, who had stepped in on Wednesday morning for the injured Mervyn King, finally hit top form to see off Lloyd in style. A 96 finish gave him the opening leg before he hit a 180 and a 142 finish to take the second. Double 16 put him 3-0 up before another break of throw won Stompe a fourth leg, and he also won the ffith to move a leg away from a whitewash. Lloyd avoided that prospect by taking the sixth on double two, but Stompe hit another 180 in opening the next, and double ten sealed a comprehensive win.
Ronnie Baxter claimed his second victory of the day, seeing off Paul Nicholson 6-4 to maintain a chance of a semi-final berth. The pair shared the opening six legs before Baxter secured a key break in seventh on double top - after three misses from Nicholson - to lead 4-3. He also took the eighth before a 116 finish from Nicholson kept him in the game, but the respite was brief as Baxter hit double ten in the next for the two points.
Sixth Set of Matches
Simon Whitlock produced a hammer blow to Paul Nicholson's semi-final hopes with a 6-4 victory. Whitlock hit a 180 in the opening leg and double top for the first leg before Nicholson replied with a 104 finish. The next three also went with the throw before double two in the sixth saw Whitlock break for a 4-2 lead. Nicholson landed a 180 in hitting back, but the Australian star responded with a 180 and a 92 finish for a 5-3 lead. Double 16 kept Nicholson in the game, but a bullseye finish from Whitlock, on 88, secured victory.
Co Stompe won a second successive match, defeating Adrian Lewis 6-2 to continue his revival. Stompe picked up his maiden win of the day in round five, and continued that form to see off the semi-final challenger. He opened the game with a 78 finish, which was followed by a 96 finish and double 15 as he took the opening three legs without reply. Lewis finished 38 for the fourth leg, but double five restored Stompe's lead, and a 107 finish moved him 5-1 up. Lewis broke back for a second leg, but double 12 sealed a second two-pointer for the Dutchman.
Gary Anderson put one foot into the semi-finals on his Championship League Darts debut with a crushing 6-1 defeat of winless Colin Lloyd. Final Set of Matches
Gary Anderson secured top spot in Group Two's league table with a whitewash over James Wade - who could now miss out on the top four should Ronnie Baxter defeat Colin Lloyd. Anderson took out double top for the first and third legs and broke throw on double 19 in the second, before punishing a Wade miss to take out double nine in the fourth. Wade also missed double top in the fifth as Anderson moved to the brink of a win which was sealed in the next, as he took out 83 in two darts for a second whitewash of the day.
Adrian Lewis' 6-3 win over Simon Whitlock sealed his semi-final place - where he will meet the Australian again after they both ended on five wins. Lewis made an ideal start to break throw in the opening leg, and also took the second before Whitlock fired in a 180 and double eight to get off the mark. The next four were shared to leave Lewis 4-3 up before he took out double top for the eighth leg and then sealed the win on double ten.
Ronnie Baxter sneaked a play-off spot with a 6-1 win over Colin Lloyd, who ended a disappointing Group Two without a victory. Lloyd took the game's opening leg, but Baxter checked out 124 in the second to break back, and reeled off the next five without reply to jump into fourth place, setting up a semi-final against Gary Anderson by jumping above Wade in the final league table.
Co Stompe completed a miracle escape with a 6-3 victory over Paul Nicholson - ensuring his own progression to Group Three and eliminating the debutant in the process. Stompe lost his first four games after stepping in on Wednesday morning when Mervyn King was ruled out through injury, but won his final three to stay alive in the tournament. Nicholson made the brighter start in the winner-takes-all encounter, taking the opening leg against the darts and also hitting a 120 finish in establishing an early 3-1 lead. A brace of double top finishes saw Stompe level, before he punished one missed double from Nicholson in the next two to lead - hitting a 127 in taking a 5-3 lead, with double top in the next ensuring he knocked out January's Players Championship winner.
Semi-Finals
Gary Anderson won through to a debut final in Championship League Darts with a 6-2 defeat of Ronnie Baxter. Anderson followed up topping the league table with a strong performance to see off fourth-placed Baxter, with two double ten finishes to break throw in taking a 3-0 lead giving him command early on. Baxter took out 78 to win the fourth and added a second leg before being denied the chance to level on double ten for a 4-2 lead. He kicked off the next with a 180 and landed double four to move a leg away from the win, and added another maximum and double ten to seal the win.
Simon Whitlock secured a spot in his first Championship League Darts final with a 6-2 win over Adrian Lewis. Simon Whitlock claimed the Group Two title with a 6-2 win over Gary Anderson. The Australian came from a leg down to take four in a row in assuming a 4-1 lead against Anderson, who hit a 180 and a two-dart 84 finish to win the sixth in his best leg of the final. However, Whitlock matched him blow for blow in the seventh as they traded scores of 140 and 180 before the Australian finished 91 on the bull, before another maximum and double four secured the win.

The left-hander entered the tournament on Thursday and enjoyed a superb day at Crondon Park GC in Essex in the internet-streamed tournament.
Six wins from seven games in the group stage saw him top the league table, before he defeated James Wade 6-2 in the semi-finals and Anderson in the decider, earning a spot in the Winners Group plus £3,200 prize money on the day.
His semi-final included finishes of 121 and 138 as he took a 4-0 lead against world number three Wade, who hit back to 4-2 but had no answer as the left-hander closed out the win with a brace of double top finishes.
Anderson took leads of 3-1 and 5-3 in the final, but after Tabern took out 100 in the ninth leg the Scot was made to pay for a missed dart at the bullseye for the match and two at double eight in the next.
Tabern landed double nine to force a deciding leg, and was the first to a double despite a 180 from Anderson, before hitting double ten to seal victory.
Tabern now progresses to compete in October's big-money Winners Group, which offers £10,000 to the eventual champion plus a place in the Grand Slam of Darts for the finalists - an event the St Helens man is now targeting.
"I'm delighted to win and it's been a memorable day for me," said Tabern. "Gary played really well in the final but I was determined to just hang in there and keep fighting away, and it paid off.
"I can relax and look forward to the Winners Group now. The Grand Slam is an extra incentive for me but I'll come back in October and do my best."
Anderson's loss meant he suffered defeat in the final for a second successive day, having lost out to Simon Whitlock in Group Two's decider.
The Scot finished second in the table thanks to a 6-2 win over Andy Hamilton in the final round of games, and defeated reigning champion Colin Osborne 6-4 in the semis, but will now have to return for Group Four on September 21.
Osborne and Wade will also return for Group Four, alongside Adrian Lewis and Co Stompe, with Ronnie Baxter and Andy Hamilton eliminated from the event.
Lewis was unlucky not to win a semi-final place, losing out to Wade for fourth spot on Legs Won over the course of their seven league matches, but will maintain an ever-present record this year when he returns to Essex in a fortnight.

James Wade kicked off his challenge in Group Three with a strong 6-2 win over Adrian Lewis. The world number three, competing for a third successive day in the event, took the opening four legs without reply to leave Lewis trailing. Wade took the first before missing double 12 for the win as Lewis hit tops again to pull back to 5-2, but a miss at the same bed allowed the 2008 Group One winner to seal the win with a clinical 104 finish.
Alan Tabern won a dramatic final-leg shoot-out with Co Stompe to begin his challenge in the 2010 Championship League with a win. After a tight opening five legs went with the throw, Stompe punished two misses from the left-hander to take the first break in leg six for a 4-2 cushion. Tabern, though, hit back in style to break, hitting a 180 to leave 100 in the seventh, and checked out the finish before double two in the next levelled mattes. Stompe hit a 177 and double eight in winning the ninth before a 101 finish saw Tabern force a decider. Stompe was first to a finish, but msised double top for a 160 checkout and five subsequent darts at a double before Tabern took his second chance at double ten to snatch the points.

Double 12 put him into a three-leg lead, although double 18 and double eight saw Hamilton pull back to 4-3. A 12-darter from Osborne, featuring scores of 140, 180 and 140, saw him move a leg away from the win, which was sealed when he followed a 180 in the next leg with a sensational 167 checkout.

In a tight game, there was never more than a leg between the pair, as Baxter hit back from being 1-0 down to lead 2-1, only for Wade to edge 4-3 up. Baxter, with the aid of a 180, levelled, and after Wade won the ninth he took out 76 in two darts to force a decider. Wade, with the advantage of throw, pushed clear but crucially missed one dart at double top for the win before Baxter snatched glory in style.

Co Stompe's play-off challenge picked up pace with a 6-4 win over Ronnie Baxter. Stompe hit back to level three times before breaking throw in the seventh, hitting double two with his third dart to edge in front. A superb 154 checkout put him 5-3 up, and after Baxter took the ninth he sealed the win on double ten.
James Wade took out 110 in the deciding leg of a dramatic 11-leg battle with Colin Osborne. Wade took the first two legs, including an 84 on the bulll, before Osborne hit back to level. Wade set up a potential nine-darter with two 180s in the fifth, and took out double one for the leg - hitting a 130 on his third visit to leave 11 - and move 3-2 up, despite Osborne hitting a 180 and missing two darts himself for the leg. Wade also took the sixth to lead 4-2, and traded legs to move within touching distance of the match. Osborne won the next two to force a decider, in which he edged clear only to miss double top as Wade returned to take out 110 on double 15 for the win.

Sixth Set of Games
Reigning champion Colin Osborne inflicted a first defeat of the day on Alan Tabern, taking a 6-4 win to improve his play-off hopes. Osborne came from a leg down to lead 2-1, breaking throw in the third with a 133 finish. Tabern levelled but Osborne took the next two for a 4-2 lead, only for the left-hander to break back in levelling in the eighth, hitting double 14 after a miss at tops from the Derby ace. Osborne, though, recovered to hit a 180 in the ninth, with double top putting him 5-4 up before a clinical 62 finish sealed victory.

The left-hander entered the tournament on Thursday and enjoyed a superb day at Crondon Park GC in Essex in the internet-streamed tournament.
Six wins from seven games in the group stage saw him top the league table, before he defeated James Wade 6-2 in the semi-finals and Anderson in the decider, earning a spot in the Winners Group plus £3,200 prize money on the day.
His semi-final included finishes of 121 and 138 as he took a 4-0 lead against world number three Wade, who hit back to 4-2 but had no answer as the left-hander closed out the win with a brace of double top finishes.
Anderson took leads of 3-1 and 5-3 in the final, but after Tabern took out 100 in the ninth leg the Scot was made to pay for a missed dart at the bullseye for the match and two at double eight in the next.
Tabern landed double nine to force a deciding leg, and was the first to a double despite a 180 from Anderson, before hitting double ten to seal victory.
Tabern now progresses to compete in October's big-money Winners Group, which offers £10,000 to the eventual champion plus a place in the Grand Slam of Darts for the finalists - an event the St Helens man is now targeting.
"I'm delighted to win and it's been a memorable day for me," said Tabern. "Gary played really well in the final but I was determined to just hang in there and keep fighting away, and it paid off.
"I can relax and look forward to the Winners Group now. The Grand Slam is an extra incentive for me but I'll come back in October and do my best."
Anderson's loss meant he suffered defeat in the final for a second successive day, having lost out to Simon Whitlock in Group Two's decider.
The Scot finished second in the table thanks to a 6-2 win over Andy Hamilton in the final round of games, and defeated reigning champion Colin Osborne 6-4 in the semis, but will now have to return for Group Four on September 21.
Osborne and Wade will also return for Group Four, alongside Adrian Lewis and Co Stompe, with Ronnie Baxter and Andy Hamilton eliminated from the event.
Lewis was unlucky not to win a semi-final place, losing out to Wade for fourth spot on Legs Won over the course of their seven league matches, but will maintain an ever-present record this year when he returns to Essex in a fortnight.

James Wade kicked off his challenge in Group Three with a strong 6-2 win over Adrian Lewis. The world number three, competing for a third successive day in the event, took the opening four legs without reply to leave Lewis trailing.
