No it wasn't, they were mostly rubbish.
It meant better quality players. 7 spots on a one off best of 9 leg event could give you anybody and dilute the quality.

Max 4 players for the qualifiers IMO.

Top player not already qualified from OoM, Pro Tour, European Tour + 4 from qualifier. That's what I would do.

Should have :

1 qualifier from a pdpa members only tournament
1 qualifier from the conventional anyone who enters
1 for both the WDT & Masters Winner But ONLY if they both have agreed to go to QS next year (if this leaves any spots open ask the ladies champion but with the proviso that if they decline the ladies would not be asked again)
Top OOM ,Pro Tour , Euro not qualified
1 wildcard voted by PDC.tv members

Should easy get enough quality in then

Except for Darin Young.
Pat Orreal in 2007 reached the last 16 only losing 10-9 to Klassen, Mawson also reached the L16 but cant work out how he qualified.

2008 saw Darin Young reach the L16
2009 saw Darin Young reach the L16 only losing 10-9 to Thornton.

And that was the end of the international invitations.

You cant put a gun to a blokes head and say go q school if you accept etc, people have their own lifes and the PDC cannot dicate that, The Cross code element makes this unique

But its not like they havent switched after playing in the GSOD as a BDO Player

Anderson, Webster, Woods, Whitlock, Winstanley, Chisnall, Hankey And Thornton and Bunting switched after qualifying for the event as a BDO Player. The event has worked to attact the big BDO names to the PDC

Seems fair to me if you want a place in a different organisations event.

Although the fact that Q School is AFTER the Slam makes that idea unworkable. I see nothing wrong with it working the other way round, i.e. offering a place in the 2015 Slam should you play Q School in Jan 2015. Cant have your cake and eat it. Or as Oche might say, "Can't cake eat".

I meant in terms of offering spots to "minor" BDO tournaments

The PDC have been supporting Waite's career as chief shelf 'putter upper' for years now.

It is and always has been just like UK Open and World Cup which have both also welcomed non PDPA members with open arms for a number of years.

What current or planned 'divide' Majors are welcoming PDPA members these days ?
