He's young, and inconsistent. Usually.BOOM wrote:It's hard to believe Van den Bergh has never even been in the top 32 of the OOM
Needs to reach the semis to make the top 32 else Max Hopp will be 32. Hopp repeated his 3rd place from 2016, while Robert Thornton drops a last 16.

Im actually a bit sad, This used to be the big BDO vs PDC battle. It now just seems a first weekend sideshow to the actual tournament.
Re: PDC Grand Slam of Darts- 10th-18th November 2018- Wolverhampton
Next year I would invite 4 players. 3 major winners plus next highest in the rankings. Then fill 4 places from a bdo/challenger tour qualifier. You then have 24 spots for pdc major winners/runner ups and a pro tour qualifier for whatever is left say 4 cards.

No the 200 odd players would be bloody furious.Zeyes wrote: Of course, a two-time (maybe soon to be three-time) Lakeside champion doing the Challenge Tour as a learning experience wouldn't sit too well with some people.

Oh don't worry, I'm braced for it being the same old faces, all playing for the right to be beaten by Gando or MVG on the final.phil davies wrote:Prepared to be dissapointed then as I honestly see it being the other 4 players winning.MrLil8 wrote:Perfect scenario bottom half is.

Disappointing evening really all round. Good quality but it does lose the interest once the BDo guys have gone.
Still at least we still have Big Robbo to cheer on.

It's hard to know what they can do if they can commit to full time. Practice makes perfect. But right now I don't think he can score well enough to string wins together in the PDC.DavidB wrote:Zapp Brannigan wrote:McGeeney is going to get completely lost in the PDC when he switches in January, misses far too many darts in the middle of legs to make a difference anywhere.
I dont even think he has the game to get a card.
There have been far worse players get a card and then go on and do well, I’m sure McGeeney would be fine.

If you look at likely results, the last 16 could be the PDC top 16 withAstonvilla wrote:Disappointing evening really all round. Good quality but it does lose the interest once the BDo guys have gone.

5 Gurney
10 Chisnall
13 Webster
14 van Barneveld
15 Cullen
16 Lewis
replaced by
17 Clayton
21 Bunting
37 Van den Bergh
41 Brown
52 Payne
60 Ratajski
I don't think the format's weakened the tournament in any significant way.

Competition always seems rigged, is the draw seeded, looks like the BDO boys always get the in form players.

Ah yes, the in-form Andrew Gilding. Lest we forget.

I dont think the pdc could find a way of getting any worse players in, the system dishes up some pretty ropey tour players.Ginge wrote:Ah yes, the in-form Andrew Gilding. Lest we forget.

I agree, it's a shame really that Durrant didn't get through as it's now essentially the last 16 of any major PDC TV event. The other 3 that didn't get through last night would just have been fodder in the last 16 anyway. Same with any of them who get through tonight. Hard to make a case for any of them getting through tonight though anyway.
Re: PDC Grand Slam of Darts- 10th-18th November 2018- Wolverhampton
On another note, Josh Payne's been very fortunate to get through with averages of 90, 90 and 87 and two defeats given that Hopp actually played pretty well overall.
