Anyone else thought John Gwynne was terribly patronising after set 2 of Monk/Wright when Monk threw his darts down in disgust as he left the stage. After the ads he droned on about the dangers of throwing darts around for some time and not to do it.Does he think the average viewer is so stupid!
Commentary this year other than Bristow in the prelims has been shocking .Pike and Gwynne get your fingers out!

Mervyn King v Dean Winstanley undoubtedly the match of the night. The Prelim should be OK too - expecting 3-0 to the seeds in the other three matches I'm afraid.

Looks like Tommo has taken a shine to you Pauly :-)

Need Newton to win by 3-1 or better for my bet to land

The World Champs really haven't taken off this year, other than the odd game, 2nd Round though should liven it all up

It never does - it's a too long and drawn out affair with too many breaks in between for the holiday days - a straight 2 week event with no interruptions would be much better!

Sorry, what magic?! This is the point - there is no magic (for me anyhow) because it's too long and drawn out...

Anyway, as for tonight I'm going for:

Beaton 3-0 K. Anderson
Ilagan 3-4 J. Lewis
Newton 3-1 Haines
King 2-3 Winstanley
Osborne 2-3 J.Lewis

If you hold it over a normal period of time which isnt Xmas then you arent able to have afternoon sessions because its a normal working week, so the event would have to be extended anyway as it could only be evening sessions (except at weekends).

Blackpool only have the one afternoon weekday session because of where it is and the time of year. Transplant the PDC Worlds to a dreary fortnight in January or the start of December and you have none of that.
