“The atmosphere is so tense, if Elvis walked in with a portion of chips, you could hear the vinegar sizzle on them”
Re: Sid Waddell
I used to like the way he would go on about the term stacking,a player had a marker in the 60 and needed another for a big outshot.sid obviously got excited and said something along the lines of understacker,side stacker any stacker needed.i thought that was amusing.

He looks more nervous then a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs
Re: Sid Waddell
Towards the end of a long hot sweaty session on stage;
'It's Jocky on the Oche, and he's blowing like a whale'
to be read in your best Geordie accent

This was my favourite Sid quote and I've made use of it many times.masticman wrote:He looks more nervous then a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs
When I read the words, in my mind's eye I actually see a long tailed cat in the room full of rocking chairs. It's almost poetic in its structure, if you know what I mean!

you couldn't get more excitement if Elvis walked in and ordered a chip sandwich

"It's the greatest comeback since Lazarus".
I miss Sid, I really do. I know a lot of people disliked his Taylor-made commentary, but the man had cabaret class and a huge vocabulary to dig out of by heart.

agree with Rudy.
At the end the Taylor love in was nauseous, but Sid of old was total class.
