Chase for Premier League spots

Post by xtreme rebel »

Thornton may have blown his chance after yesterday. Likewise Huybrechts.

Chisnall is world number 5, how can he be left out of a 10 man field?

Peter Wright and Wes Newton are bang in the mix now. For me it's looking like:

Taylor
Lewis
MvG
Whitlock
Barney
Wade
Chisnall
Wright

2 from Anderson, Huybrechts, Newton, Thornton.

Wade can count himself lucky. He's not box office material, a poor few years and slipping down the rankings.

Chisnall will not be picked for a wildcard and his ranking will be overtaken.Peter Wright is the only new name nailed on for a spot.

Barney is a 5 time world champ, box office, people buy tickets to see him, Dutch TV and he's in much better form than Wade (who should be out of WC twice by now).

Right now, Chisnall is provisionally number 5. The likes if Lewis, MvG and Whitlock who could be semi finalists at Ally Pally, are already ahead if Chisnall. So I don't see him falling much, 1 spot perhaps if Wright or Newton make the final.

I think he will have to make the final.

180 hitters like Anderson and Huybrechts are more likely.

Give Michael Smith a go.

Has proved he can play on the big stage.

Youth Champ, quick, heavy scorer.

Anything but Newton again *shudder*

If he stays at no.5 he'll be in.

Has a major PDC final to add to his CV as well.

He's not done enough imo... just 2 good matches, but a 3rd round at ally pally is not enough imo...

Has won floor events, beaten Taylor on the box, has masses of potential and would be an imaginative pick.

I'd much prefer to watch him than some of the recent PL players.

I like left field selections like Jelle a few years ago.

I like Michael Smith as well, I would rather see him play than say Newton or Hamilton, but it could also be a bit too early for him... Some people play in the PL, get hammered week in, week out and that could affect their careers a bit...

So I would say: let's see how well smith does next year....

I think Wright is a certainty as a newcomer and I can't see the pdc not picking chisnall if he is in 5th position.

My provisional line up:
Taylor
MVG
Lewis
Whitlock
Wade
Barney
Chisnall
Wright

And then 2 from: Newton, Hamilton, Thorton, Anderson, Smith (not taking into account any other upsets)

With 6 wild cards it would be a travesty to ignore Chisnall giving his ranking and a major Tv final appearance...he will be in
They need a Scot...does Wright fit that bill :D .....I think they would like Anderson but if he loses to MVG then he has no chance..
Barney is still box office and will walk in...Wade's record will give one

So that's

Taylor, MVG,Lewis, Whitlock, Barney, Wade, Chisnall, Wright.....plus from Newton, Thornton, Anderson, King if he beats Lewis could push himself in the mix

Taylor
Mvg
Lewis
Whitlock
Barney
Anderson
Wright
Wade

I think those are all in.

Newton and White have a chance, as does Thornton. Think Huybrechts and Chisnall are outsiders now

Totally agree, just an excuse for a load of k**bheads to shout 'Barney Army' for their evening out as far as I'm concerned. He'll get a pick though, will be interested to see if it's a PDC or Sky one though

Should be top 8 regardless of who they are +2 wild cards. People want to see the best in the world and if you are top 8 you are one of the best

The PL isn't the Worlds, they don't want to see the top 8 IMO. They want to be entertained and want a good night out. Most PL crowds won't have a clue who the top 8 are.

The likes of Newton & Pipe (who had the chance of a top 8) are not ticker sellers. Barney & Gary Anderson are. At the end of the day it's about making money not putting the best players out there
