So Tokyo will be added to the World Series, so think that will be at least 5 stops. And all financed by others.......crickey, hope to see some more Japanese/Asian players in there.

The prize money must be going up on the floor as well, surely.

Think if Barry has his way they will be next to no floor tournements for the biggest names darts as they will trapsing round all over the world playing TV/Stage tournements

These World Series events only benefit the select elite though don't they..they don't mean much to the average PDPA member.....unless the money raised filters down and increases the pro tour prize money...I can't see a ranking event going on in Asia or Australia at the moment.

Well Taylor said he has no real interest in them...Barney has said the same....so you may have a point.....the problem is you can't go seeding players into TV events without their earned ranking like everybody else.....so players have to do the floor to keep a ranking and I can't see anyway around that....if Barney had had a poor world champs then he would have been forced into doing more of them anyway..

The idea of the Pro Tour is to give players additional playing opportunities and match practice - and they've served their purpose. It shouldn't be a dart player's aim to be the best on "the leisure centre tour" playing in silence in front of next to no one. Think the idea will be to gradually wind these tournaments down as there's more on TV - play more in Europe; maybe have an "England Open", "Welsh Open", "Scottish Open" in the same mould as the European Tour.

Just imagine what uncle Barry could really do if he had a clue about anything to do with sports promoting.

I really have no idea how the PDC or Matchroom will achieve this 20m dream without the services of the 100's of people who continually knock them and their this how it should be done advice.

Think your trying to get rid of stuff that has to stay. If you get rid of the Pro Tour would you get rid of the Challenger Tour as well......

If you look towards one of his other sports (snooker), hasn't he introduced 'floor tourneys' similar to darts to get the players playing more and to get ranking points for the TV comps... so going the opposite way to what some are suggesting in this thread (elite just play tv comps) - the players in snooker doing all the non tv comps are often the ones coming through now with form to do well on tv. Don't think it's one or the other - and if it became that way, it would get pretty stale, with the TV players always winning so much £ compared to the rest on the floor that they'd hardly ever drop out - so it would be the same players constantly now matter their relative form vs the floor players?

My apologies it was mentioned by uncle Barry during his players address, I didn't realise it had not been on here.
I guess in my head it was old news but obviously not, again sorry.

Darts needs a pro tour....the pro tour is the route to becoming one of these elite players who benefit from these World Series events....how else would anybody get their name up there...Chizzy for instance came into the PDC on £0 and it was the pro tour that got him into TV events, it was TV events that then got him into the PL and the top 10 and some World Series events....same with Bunting....same with everybody..you need the pro tour, you need the challenge tour and you need the development tour...it can't all be about the same elite few on TV...it would soon go stale.

Of course you will always have the Pro Tour but I think due to the sheer expansion that the players who perform consistently on the bigger TV / Euro opens events will not have the need as now to play much of it.

Barry is no fool he will create the correct right structure that makes the hungriest / best performing players rise to the top.
