Whilst a great result for Taylor, needs to be kept in perspective. It was only an exhibition in Bradford. Taylor's demolition of MVG at Blackpool saw Michael in tears, an event which I'm sure was not repeared in Yorkshire and I still believe Van Gerwen will be the player to beat in every tournament over the next 4 months.

Yes, I somehow don't think MVG would have had the same intensity at Bradford as he has on TV..it would be physically impossible I think.
I agree MVG is the man to beat...he's the world number 1 and the best player day in day out by a mile..
I just think Blackpool is the one event where Taylor may still have the edge..I don't know why but I do.....MVG will probably crush him there now

Taylor will always be favourite for the Matchplay and Grand Slam especially when it gets the best of 17+ legs

MvG will be favourite everywhere else but as Jenkins, RvB and Anderson has shown if you can get a decent start and weather the storm midway through the game he is beatable.

I think his age is gonna weight more and more on Taylor in those longer format matches. So its not a certainty anymore that Taylor is the favourite in longer format matches.

i agree with you right MVG is king of shorter formats like best of 11 -17 19 where Taylor is still king is game likes best of 25 31 33 35 so i would fancy him to win GSOD and matchplay if gets to round 2

That night Lewis attempted 150 checkout with 3 bulls....and that telephone leg which Anderson cheated himself ....exactly....the only relevant results are ranked events or televised matches...Taylor lost his PL match after it...MVG won his...shows its relevance really.
