Post by ssjsa »

RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD headed the list of European Qualifiers for the European Darts Matchplay in Innsbruck when he won through Thursday night's knockouts to claim a spot in the PDC European Tour event.

The Dutchman followed up his qualification for this weekend's European Darts Trophy event in Muelheim by also winning through the day's second qualifier with defeats of Magnus Caris and John Michael to earn a spot in next week's Austrian event.

German youngster Max Hopp also enjoyed double success on the day, overcoming World Cup players Nandor Bezzeg and Mariusz Paul to qualify, with Holland's Dirk van Duijvenbode, who edged out Russia's Roman Obukhov before defeating Jeffrey van de Ven.

Belgium's Ronny Huybrechts joined younger brother Kim, one of the 16 seeds, in the Innsbruck event by knocking out German duo Sascha Stein and Bernd Roith, while Croatia's Robert Marijanovic was made to work hard for his wins over Krzysztof Ratajski and Jeffrey De Zwaan.

Belgian youngster Dimitri Van den Bergh followed up wins over Dick van Dijk and Petr Hyncica with an emphatic whitewash of Christian Kist to seal his spot, with Maik Langendorf impressing with wins over Jan Dekker, Antonio Alcinas and Jerry Hendriks.

The final spot went to Germany's Stefan Stoyke, who impressed with 6-1 wins over Michal Kocik and Thomas Obstfelder before overcoming Spanish ace Cristo Reyes 6-3.

The final four places in the European Darts Matchplay will be discovered in the Host Nation Qualifier in Innsbruck on Thursday September 17.

The European Darts Matchplay will then take place from September 18-20 at the Olympiahalle in Innsbruck. For information, visit www.pdc-europe.tv.

THE PDC European Tour returns to Austria this weekend, with the Olympiahalle in Innsbruck set to host the European Darts Grand Prix.

The £115,000 tournament will be held from September 18-20, featuring 48 players competing across three days.

Last weekend's European Darts Trophy winner Michael Smith will be joined by world number one Michael van Gerwen as the top two seeds for the event, with last year's European Tour winner in Austria Vincent van der Voort also amongst the 16 seeded players entering in the second round on Saturday.

Friday's first round features the 32 players who have won through the July's UK Qualifier, last weekend's European Qualifier and Thursday's Host Nation Qualifier.

The Host Nation Qualifier will see now see six players qualify to compete this weekend, following the withdrawals of Gary Anderson and Kyle Anderson, which also means that Stephen Bunting - the next highest ranked player - moves up to become the number 16 seed.

The European Darts Grand Prix will be screened live online throughout the weekend at www.LIVEPDC.TV and the websites listed below.

Must have a good reason for missing this as he now loses his guaranteed 1k for playing, which makes him now 3k behind Mark Webster for that 14th place in the Pro Tour OOM. Cannot see him now qualifying for the WGP.

Very conservative walk on from Dirk van Duijvenbode there. Probably focusing on his match more. Hope he goes through.

With checkoutpercentages like these, you won't win any match on the professional level, Van Duijvenbode. 14.81% 4/27

He played pretty poorly there. Thought he was due a decent weekend, but unfortunately not to be this one.
