2016 Unibet Masters Milton Keynes 30th-31st January

Post by spaceman70 »

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN will begin his defence of The Unibet Masters title against Stephen Bunting on Saturday January 30 at ArenaMK, with World Champion Gary Anderson up against Vincent van der Voort in Milton Keynes.

World number one van Gerwen kicked off a brilliant 2015 when he took victory in The Masters, which features the top 16 players in the PDC Order of Merit following the completion of the World Championship.

The Dutchman is up against former Lakeside Champion and Premier League ace Bunting when this year's £200,000 Unibet Masters kicks off, live on ITV4.

World Champion Gary Anderson, ranked second in the Order of Merit, will take on quick-fire Dutchman Vincent van der Voort in their opener - only weeks after the Scot took victory on the Alexandra Palace stage.

Another high-profile rematch from the World Championship sees Phil Taylor - the inaugural Masters champion - taking on Holland's Jelle Klaasen, who overcame the Stoke legend during his run to the semi-finals.

World Championship runner-up Adrian Lewis will meet Belgium's Kim Huybrechts, while 2015 Masters finalist Raymond van Barneveld - who moved up to ninth in the rankings by reaching the Ally Pally semi-finals - takes on number eight seed Michael Smith.

2014 Masters champion James Wade faces nine-time major finalist Terry Jenkins, and reigning World Grand Prix champion Robert Thornton meets Dave Chisnall, who landed a nine-dart finish in November's Grand Slam of Darts.

Top seed van Gerwen is the 2/1 pre-tournament favourite with sponsors Unibet, with World Champion Anderson the 3/1 second favourite, while both Taylor and Lewis are 8/1 to lift the title.

The 2016 Unibet Masters will be held on Saturday January 30 and Sunday January 31 at ArenaMK in Milton Keynes, with tickets available online via https://www.theticketfactory.com/pdc/online/.

9/50?
39/10
2/15
11/25

Stupid odds - Absolutely ridiculous

eg 39/10 why not just put it in as 4/1 honestly

Because 39/10 is less than 4/1.

once again the same old format for the itv events

Format
First Round - Best of 19 legs
Quarter-Finals - Best of 19 legs
Semi-Finals - Best of 21 legs
Final - Best of 21 legs

have i think this is perfect event to change it i would like to see 701 used or play 3 legs per set if they have to keep legs why not make 1st session 5 hours 12-5 and evening one 4.5 hours 7 to 11.30 and change the format a bit day 1 last 16 and quaters then day 2 semis in afternoon and final evening so we get a longer fomat in later stages instead of useal for the itv events

best of 13 legs
quaters best of 21
semis best of 29 legs
final best of 33

Coming up to the 1st tournament of the new season, this synopsis by 3 Dart Analyst shows how difficult it will be to stop MVG. For me Ando is the only one who can prevent him from winning this.

Just looking at Dave's OP, and thinking that the 8/1 odds on Taylor are very good, given that all rounds are minimum best of 19 leg play.

They are amazing stats look at the Taylor stat from 2006 95.7% win rate against the top 16 also interesting to see MVG on the rise and Taylor on the slide.

Think it puts into perspective, the decline in Taylor's standards. Last year winning less than 54% of his matches against other top 16 players. Without the proof of these stats, I would have never have thought that these numbers were feasible.

Think Taylor's got 2 years left max. With the standard as high as it is now can't see MVG beating 95.7% interesting enough I thought Taylor was at his best in 2009 he seemed unplayable.
