2016 Premier League Week 1: The worst night in PL history?
2016 Premier League Week 1: The worst night in PL history?
A whitewash, three thrashings, the World Champion not present and three averages of 86, 81 and 76.
The worst night in PL history? Yes or no.

I actually turned it off at one point. The crowd pissing about in the background doesn't help the viewing too.
Re: 2016 Premier League Week 1: The worst night in PL history?
I know they decided it with a toin coss but there was no way they should have thrown Smith to the wolves in his first ever PL night by making him play twice. Whoever made that decision to have a toin coss needs shooting.

I voted no. Any night when Chizzy wins is a good night.

ginge ignoring that 2 of the crap averages were by one player, the other player clearly a player who is in the middle of an obvious slump
Also Wade won 7 out of 8 legs against MvG , but had wade lost 7-0 or 7-1 like a lot of people thought then we would have got the "PL is predictable" bullshit instead so people will always moan.
Also ignored were the great performances of barney, lewis etc and thoie with averages over a 100.
Personally I think chucking Bellyboy on first on his debut and making him play twice was a little harsh, regardless of him appearing to choke,Hardly the PDC's fault Thornton was a disgrace.

Can you think of a worse night than last night?
Im not blaming the PDC for it, you would think a major winner from 3 months ago (at the time of choosing) would be a safe enough bet, obviously things dont always work out like that.

Having a debutante play in 2 of the 5 matches was a bad decision, thornton made his game manky to watch.
Odd thing is as a Wade fan last night will stick out more for the good than the bad in my mind,

It was in the Pub while I was playing, looked ok from a distance but that probably was becauae Wade was beaing MVG and Taylor was losing.
Didnt see much of Thorton or Smith so I probably saw the best of it.

Saw the first game then turned off, don't even know the results.
JC defending is quite funny though.

The PDC's premier showpiece event and a 75 and a couple of 80+ averages, imagine if that was at Lakeside...............ifm wrote:Saw the first game then turned off, don't even know the results.

Thornton had one dart at a double, so not as if he has a shedload of missed doubles to drag his average down. A very odd night.

But but but you don't see that at the PDC, Gaz tells us every lakeside. These are the best players on the planet, playing under the best coonditions for the best payday.ifm wrote:Jobbersnikkiboy wrote:The PDC's premier showpiece event and a 75 and a couple of 80+ averages, imagine if that was at Lakeside...............ifm wrote:Saw the first game then turned off, don't even know the results.

Blimey, Thorton was realy shit then, I knew they shoudl have picked Klaasen. You have to go with form.
If Thorton continues like that and SMith never gets going then it coudl be a long few weeks until we get past judgement night.
Anyway, never really watched much PL, doesnt float my boat. Good night out but I'm never sure ofthe players really care enough

Dont think Smith has the expierence or mental capacity to recieve thrashings week in week out yet. He was a different person when it was the Grand Slam, fast forward a few months and he looks like a Novice on the big stage. Amazing what the Premier League can do to players.
But it was a total dead rubber night.

You can't win a game in the PDC with an average less than 100........nikkiboy wrote:But but but you don't see that at the PDC, Gaz tells us every lakeside.
