I haven't got an issue, anyone supporting players' costs is great with me and they should be applauded. I've heard reference to the Jacklin Corporation on other sites and don't really know why they are known as that so asked, that's all.Ginge wrote:What's your issue Nick? They are spending their money on darts, no problem here surely? My only point is that not every county is going to be in a similar situation to be effectively giving money away.

Chris Mason with "abuse" aimed at the bdo therechrismason wrote:So let me get this right, the county could potentially be paying for 36 players to travel uk and europe competing in BDO ranked events? hahahaha this will last long. Not unless they have a bottomless pit full of 50 pound notes!
This is right out the Walter Mitty hand book of darts promoting.

They might attract some of the top touring players that don't have that much money to travel and don't play county.
I think some will look into the possibilities of moving to Lincs. This would also strengthen there squad which is also needed to stay in the Prem

Maybe Adams can go and play for them, given that's where he lives.

I suppose if you break it down it makes sense, imagine for a moment they decide to sponsor the top 16 men and top 8 women to do the tour, a form of funding maybe with a 30% kickback on winnings.Bag Carrier wrote:They might attract some of the top touring players that don't have that much money to travel and don't play county.

They pay for:
Hotel room (shared with another player) - so 12 rooms booked early enough can be as little as £30 a room (or less) with a suppliment for single occupancy
Coach - arrange one for the sponsored players and sell the remaining seats to other players and supporters that may want to go thus generating income
Entry Fee - entry for the sponsored players
Shirts - with a sponsor's name on them again generating income

apart from a bit of name calling (and 'tosser' is probably the least most of us here have been called ) - hats off to Lincs. Reading their full announcement and follow-ups, pretty amazing how they are offering to support their players.

The BDO has been looking for a sugardaddy of their own for years, so it's not for lack of trying. In fact, there's one obvious way they could get their hands on the same honeypot, I reckon.Krispy wrote:Must be doing something right that the BDO board could learn from?

Re: Lincolnshire sponsor players
This is awful news, I don't like the imbalance aready rife in the county system, this will only serve to make matters worse, counties should competing on an equal footing enforced by the board of the BDO. I always thought that was the whole point of the BDO system.
