Pdc players being ripped of with drink prices or not?
Apparently a pint of cider and blackcurrant today costing £4.60 in Coventry today and from previous stories from what other players say these are normally the crazy Prices they pay on the tour? Now yes maybe the prices are the same as usual in them venues but even so should do the pdc not be looking after there players a bit more with finances? Surely they can organise a venue who will lower there expensive prices if they wish to host the darts there for the weekend it's expensive enough to enter and with hotels ect to then be possibly playing £150+ on drink for 3 days is crazy 9/10 of these players are just are just working men they aren't full time pros with loads of coin that's just my opinion but for players to have to pay nearly a fiver for a pint is a joke who would actually turn up to a local comp knowing a pint is 4.60?
Re: Pdc players being ripped of with drink prices or not?
Now I know darts is a pub game etc...
But with people talking about trying to get darts in the olympics, it's funny there's a thread about the darts org should make alcoholic drinks cheaper at their tournaments for the players.
People outside of darts might think it's crazy that people 'at work' (as we're told the PDC is) are spending £50 a day (your numbers), so 10 pints a day on booze while 'working'.
If they were looking after them bottled water should be free?

The rico is scandalous, complete ripoff and it's terrible beer, i live in Coventry and i'd rather drive to Wigan than go to the rico it's that bad, worst venue in darts.
Wigan is £3 for everything.

Didn't Klaasen have to pay a fine recently for saying there was too much boozing in the PDC?
If the players are spending £50 a day on booze at these pro tour events I reckon the PDC should give Klaasen the money back as he was obviously telling the truth lol.

There's actually truth in that, the PDC take a cut of the bar in Wigan so may do elsewhere too.cannibal wrote:it is the PDC tax, a method to get the winnings back in the PDC coffers lol

I doubt very much if they raise the prices just for the pdc, unfortunately some places are expensive. Where I live cider and Guinness are both £4

Serious question. If a player kept reciepts for enterance fees, petrol, shirts, trousers, shoes & bar bills could they actually enter them as "work" items when sending off tax paperwork?

The Ricoh is the most expensive venue and is a complete rip-off. Birmingham was nearly as bad but also had terrible facilities and got binned off as a result.
Wigan is certainly the cheapest with Barnsley a bit higher and Crawley more expensive still.

Not £50 worth. One drink with a meal is the rule of thumb.ChrisW wrote:Yep, just need to keep the receipts. Standard practise. The Crusader wrote:Cant the players claim it back in tax as "expenses"
Im sure they push their luck though
Re: Pdc players being ripped of with drink prices or not?
Coventry is one of the best places in the country. If you're going to visit the crème de la crème then you've got to expect to pay a bit more. It's just a fact of life.

Yep - can't disagree with that. Pretty much applies to food, soft drink, alcohol and the general towns themselves.DavidOwen67 wrote:The Ricoh is the most expensive venue and is a complete rip-off. Birmingham was nearly as bad but also had terrible facilities and got binned off as a result.

Was drinking pints just outside Wigan for less than £2/pint on a Friday afternoon when I was there early for a 3 day event a few years back!
