Finder Italian Grand Masters 05-06 November

Post by simonbals »

This year the Italian Grand Masters has a sponsor, thus bigger prize money, Category C and not D for the BDO rankings, and some big names are going to play.

I will update my website with results and stats during the weekend, and I hope we will be able to do a streaming on Sunday for the single tournament.

Here you can find the entry list, not bad at all

Ahahah I hope not, I will be checking that they use the right seeding. I can't honestly do much more.

How many points does the ladies event hold?

54 entries and only 9 from outside of Italy seems poor, no wonder people desperate for points are making the trip

Should be easy to fix the draw so no non-Italians play each other in the first round, then.

Both tournaments are category C.
Thus for the Men Singles the points are: 18 15 12 9 6 3
For the Women Singles: 21 18 15 12

So 2 wins against local players and its an easy 12 points (assuming the draw is seeded). Nothing against this event but there is a massive flaw in the point structure in some of these events. You shouldnt be able to qualify for lakeside by just picking the right events to go to.

Actually is a lot easier if you take into account that 4 of them are the 4 seeds of the tournament

Hey, you are wrong if you think that winning two matches against italian players is easy!

No, I'm joking. I agree with you, the points structure doesn't seem really to work.

You're right, they should make all the locals play each other first round to avoid this possibility.

Harms/Adams and Gulliver/de Graaf win the double tournaments, tomorrow the two single competitions with streaming of selected matches from the last 16.

Here some results and stats from today tournaments:

Unfortunately they have used the wdf ranking for the seeding of the single tournament but no one has complained yet...

Can clearly see Adams is struggling lost 6-1 to Harms with a 19 average, definitely having an effect on him
