Didn't they have a billboard at the shopping complex.Zapp Brannigan wrote:Did they advertise it properly outside of the bdo groups?WCDPA wrote:Was there 1000 at event city ?Zapp Brannigan wrote:I get what your saying but it doesn't mean it has to be in south east London.WCDPA wrote:Disagree been to several events up north apart from players and friends spectators for BDO darts are a rare breed , perhaps with decent marketing that might change ! Wherever WDT is held ( if it is held ) it will be hard to sell tickets , perhaps it might work if held in Middlesbrough as Glen has a good local following only German open to go before cut off date for seedings etc so need to announce something quickly .Zapp Brannigan wrote:

Lakeside is a 4 hour drive for me, thats £40+ in petrol before I sort hotel and beer money out and a hell of a drive home with a hangover.
I went to every (I think bar 1) Masters at hull because it was 30 minutes down the road, I went to the last Magna events because they were round the corner from where I was staying that weekend. If they did a event up north people would come, Doncaster Dome is a good shout, straight off the motorway, cheap to hire, has hosted darts tournaments in the past.
Any event will sell tickets if it's advertised well and that's the main problem, the bdo don't advertise well outside of its own "family". Thats is why you only end up with friends and family in events away from lakeside
We've had this discussion before but the bdo could use any 1000 seater venue and would sell if they did it properly
I remember MEN doing an article on it.
