Ginge remember the clamour to hold event in Midlands ? You came to BDO / EDO event at Ricoh low attendance , events been held in Stockport, Southport, hull , Manchester , Rotherham and none have been particularly successful , Spa in Bridlington about the best we have tried.

I haven't said hold it in the Midlands. Maybe going back to Hull for something would be worth a go. Can't compare attendance at a floor event with a TV event anyway.

without wishing to step on any toes (organisers) the point i was trying to raise was that in the north there are some very decent venues for a tv event that can put a tv event on, the guild hall preston had boxing itv4 & snooker recently all 3 places i listed have big catchment areas within 30 mins that arnt charging big city prices to hire out or hanging on to nearby bigger cities coattails like stockport & rotherham do with manchester & sheffield just down the road from them

Guild Hall was empty most of the week.

Well with bad communication skills and pathetic attempts at promoting events, is it any wonder they're in low attendance. Only ever looking at the darts calendar(which is congested in the BDO/PDC ) whilst forgetting about other major sporting events being held, doesn't help.

Poorly run events, which are always promised as being "updated next time" puts a lot of people off travelling, changes to prize money and points makes it even worse.

You'd think they'd at least get in a communications officer who could navigate Social Media and garner different opinions instead of being defeatist. Just a shame there is no-one employed as that ;-)

Doubt the BDO would want to use it merely because the PDC did, as short sighted as that sounds.

Up north no good for darts events? Hmm. Sure Blackpool is in the north of England. Pdc not struggling to sell tickets: fact.

How many tickets were sold for the WDT in Blackpool? They gave away a significant number.

Location is one factor. The product on offer is another.

This is not a pdc thread.
"it's the same trolls spouting the same crap every other post.... you have to be some kind of sad act to watch nearly 8 hours of darts a day for 9 days just to post about how crap it is"

And are 'boring'. As in 'nothing to see here'. Not necessarily a bad thing just no significant changes .
Looks like a small loss for the year (£12k), which, IF they accounted for last years World Trophy in these accounts (they should have) is an ok result as no one was really sure where the prize money money/hosting costs were coming from. It looks almost certain it has been included because the Debtors and Creditors have jumped up about £90k each compared to last year - which could easily be the World Trophy income and prize money/hosting costs due (the World Trophy finished on the last day of the financial year so prize money etc would not have been paid out yet).

edit: Creditors actually went up £110k and debtors up £90k, which IF , big IF , you ascribed to the WDT then you could infur it made a £20k loss on the event but its just guesswork.

So BDO trundles on with their half a million quid in the bank....

the accounts are very limited now as BDO have taken the small companies expemptions to not have to disclose a Profit and Loss or consolidated accounts - hence why it is more interesting to look at the 'Enterprises' company as that is the main trading Company. Link below should work.

He knows they made a loss, he is attempting a wind-up with a view to delivering a good 'ol slapping at the end of it.

It's not a loss though as they have given a substantial amount back to the BDO players by setting up new tournaments. If you take into account the BDO players earnings then they have made a healthy profit for the year. They are not a business but an organisation looking after all.

Well no, they have generated new tournaments and spread the money around between the players of the BDO, All players within the BDO system are part of the org so prize monies gained are still within the organisation so should not be classed as creditors.
