Can see a rule change coming.
Hope they pay him his 25 large if he qualifies for Ally Pally and sacks off the jewel in their crown before he gets the winners cheque.
Not that I think they would not pay out, but I would be sweating if it was me, just in case.

The rules quoted above state that if the Masters winner is already qualified then the place would be offered to the next in line until 22 additional players have been invited from the main table - Robbo would have been the 23rd. This could explain why Ratajski is down as Masters winner and the Eastern European spot was given to the second placed man.
Good shout.

Example already cited above of previous years.
Crazy that is, how can someone be allowed to play in a competition they have already been knocked out of?
Absolute crap.

It's better than the old method of having a 'standby player' if Masters winner had already qualified for Lakeside - could never understand why the losing finalists in the play-offs all played-off again for a standby spot - at least now going to the next in the ranking table is fairer.
Re: 2018 BDO World Championship- Lakeside- 6th-14th January
When the qualifier is the very final event you don't need to mess around with standby players. At least they played it last the week just gone, the easy option would have been to play it before the Masters so they didn't have to go to the effort of setting all the lanes back up again.

As for being ineligible if he played the qualifiers and lost - well in the days when the qualifier was held before the end of the season you had player who qualified through the table still playing in the qualifier, losing, and getting in. So it wont be for that reason.
Sam Hewson played in the qualifier and lost the year he got a late call up the other year.
Talking of Sam Hewson, what's happened to him? Is he still playing as looked a good prospect? Thought he was being sponsored??
