Aha

Andy Walsh - At the meeting it was stated by the BDO Directors that Channel 4 wished to televise the draw to ensure that everything was "above board" and the BDO were waiting for a call to confirm the date

Howard Miller - I understand that C4 may wish to televise the draw, only commenting that the possibility was dismissed as the reason for the delay only last week.
What I find totally staggering is that the BDO board can tell the members that they wanted to do so, NOT to promote or market the event but to ensure everything was above board!
Dont know about anyone else but to me the inference is that someone obviously feels there may have been previous impropriety or are worried that that may be the case this year.
Now whilst i agree the board may cock up so many things it beggars belief no one and I mean no one has ever doubted the credibility of any Lakeside draw, and if this is the reason I take that as a real slur. Its either that or the board simply used an ill advised explanation,

So being on C4 has nothing to do with a plan by the BDO and C4 to get it on TV, the board told delegates it was because Channel 4 wanted to make sure the draw was above board and done properly.

There is no way they would fix the draw, I think Howard has teken the C4 comments the wrong way, it is a WORLD championship so C4 want it all above board which seems fair to me.

Right so when is it going to be on? Are they going to schedule a standalone programme for it?

If C4 want it on tv surely they've pencilled it in already.

Wasn't just Howard that thought it though. The first guy suggests it as well.

Maybe C4 heard about the Turkish draw.....

This, if c4 cared about putting this on tv it would be sorted already in about 20 minutes

Or it's being pencilled in. it couldn't have been the two weekends of the GSOD as they'll want a couple of the players there.

Having said that the silence on the BDO site suggests it isn't happening this week then we're heading fast into Christmas season.

Like what? All have signed contracts. Maybe just a case of ch4 wanting to do draw nearer the comps start

C4 would have announced it by now.. They haven't so the BDO will be drawing it in "Secret"

I honestly cannot see C4 remotely wanting to televise the draw....certainly not live..maybe for little recorded segments as filler in January during the event but a whole live draw ?...just cannot see that at all..

Its not even that, C4 have 3 channels if they really wanted to televise it then it wouldnt be the issue the BDO are trying to say it would be.

"Hey you know your showing our world championships, for a bit of easy advertising are you willing to put the draw on TV?"
"Sure we have the following dates and times available, you will have a 5 minute slot either on a live show or in between program's one day"
"we will do it on that day"
"excellent, your penciled in for then"

Even if they recorded the draw in the morning infront of C4 and then they show it later in the day it wouldnt be an issue.

There is no way this is the only problem holding things up.

Well it isnt this week as the Channel 4/More4/E4 schedule has been set.

Also I dont think Channel 4 are showing any live sport at all between now and January 6th, piece of cake to insert a quick 5 minute live segment into a F1 broadcast to show the draw but the F1 season finished yesterday, so if its on telly now its either going to be its own programme, part of The Last Leg (very unlikely) or maybe part of Sunday Brunch. Other than the news, I cant think of any other live programmes the network will be showing between now and then.

I know the PDC Worlds draw is televised by Sky but it’s on their specialist news channel. Doing draws outside of football competitions aren’t televised in any other sport.

Well certainly not on a mainstream channel anyway. Surely a rugby or cricket draw must have been shown on SSN at some point in the past?

Champions Cup and T20 QF/F ... I can’t remember any other competitions.

Wimbledon and the RWC aren’t televised.
