In a match of both players averaging in the 80s, Wade is in his element.

Mardle mentioned in commentary that he's better than he's shown on TV. Why is that?

Think he actually said he’s better than his Lakeside appearances over the years.

Taylor really needed that one to win the group!
Hmmmmm very "interesting" result... ;-)
Terrible first 5 legs of darts.

Last 16
Taylor vs Webster
Wade vs Gurney

His Lakeside appearances tend to be quite shite though, can't seem to do himself justice on that stage.

This is the difference between the Taylor of 2017 and the Taylor of 10/15 years ago.

He completely lost interest and gave up that last leg, you would have never seen Taylor do that years ago he wanted to beat everyone to 0 with a 100+ average.

Taylor only needed to win 3 legs to win the group.
Taylor only won 3 legs.

Not dodgy at all.

Yup as Mardle said - tv record in other events is decent (won Zuiderduin, runner-up World Trophy and semis Winmau) plus other event wins on a stream.

An interesting match, the best on show lol.

Perhaps surprising Green vs Machin wasn’t played after Taylor vs Wade to avoid any doubt?

Did not see that one coming. Very strange performance from Mr. Green. But should still make it...
That is exactly why I am not betting on best of 5/7/9/11 matches.
Hope Wade finds some form and sends Green home. Such a lacklustre performance doesn't deserve the next round.
Can't say Wade found his form, but at least Kong is going home.

In general yes but regarding the GSODs -take a look at his group matches in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012...

Wade a lucky, lucky man. To be fair he's been due some good fortune this year and he's got it in abundance in this group. If Gurney doesn't show up after his three group games, then truly the old Wade luck is back....would like to say I'll be watching that match, but not being able to support either will make that difficult!

The worst I have ever seen Phil Taylor play on stage, and yet only lost 5-3.

Green lost to someone averaging 79, he only has himself to blame really

Huh??? That wasn’t the point plus he only averaged 79 himself! Plenty of games over the years where someone has won with a lower average proving it’s all about the W!

Hughes must be kicking himself at his performances over the weekend, could have easily gone through top of the group.
