Re: World Cup Japan
Why dont the EDO put a press release out asking for volunteers to fund the trip themselves? See what happens.

Funds need paid
Re: World Cup Japan
Not a press release, email the top 20 men and ladies with the cost of flights and the hotel and ask if they are interested in representing their country at that cost, from the list of interested people (if any) pick the team, collect the money, get the cash off of the BDO, work out if there is enough to send any youth players (free) then book the flights and hotel.Ginge wrote:Why dont the EDO put a press release out asking for volunteers to fund the trip themselves? Yes you can, English players are entitled to have their flights, hotels, travel, meals and drinks paid for by the rank and file members that plough their hard earned cash into the EDO. The key word here is "entitled".Ginge wrote:Cant argue with that.nikkiboy wrote:Not a press release, email the top 20 men and ladies with the cost of flights and the hotel and ask if they are interested in representing their country at that cost, from the list of interested people (if any) pick the team, collect the money, get the cash off of the BDO, work out if there is enough to send any youth players (free) then book the flights and hotel.Ginge wrote:Why dont the EDO put a press release out asking for volunteers to fund the trip themselves? It's wannabe pro players being asked to contribute their own money in order to compete for amateur honours. Of course they think they shouldn't have to pitch in for that. Players from the lesser nations are thinking of themselves as amateurs, for whom it's perfectly natural to pay their own way to attend such an event if they have the means for it and there's no other way.

Good grief Zzzzzeds why do you feel the need to denigrate players just because they are in the BDO?Zeyes wrote:It's wannabe pro players being asked to contribute their own money in order to compete for amateur honours. You are supposed to be clever yet constantly let yourself down with stupid politics.

Re: World Cup Japan
I think zeyes makes sense here.
If a player considers himself to be amateur he will have no problem paying.
If a player considers himself pro or semi pro then he will have a different mindset.
What's wrong with that point?

I thought the mindset was, pride, honour and loyalty not wether the player has a job or not.devosteve wrote:I think zeyes makes sense here.

33 teams? Seems at least the same as usual, if not more.
If the likes of Egypt can afford to get there but the English and Scots cant...dear oh dear!
