Which big names are missing?

NDB qualifier tonight for their wildcard:

Won by Dennie Olde Kalter, who I have never heard of! Is that it for the men now?

Still one WC left.
Kalter is a young player. Plays in the same superleague team as Wesley Harms.
Got knocked out of the Masters the other week by Ratajski.

And Andy Fordham has done what to deserve a wildcard in this tournament? By his own admission he's playing pretty poor this season.

I thought the whole point of wildcards was, you don't have to deserve it? Otherwise you would have qualified for the tournament straight away.

Yes, but you've got to have actually won some matches and prove why you deserve a wildcard?

Usain Bolt is famous - are the BDO about to offer him a wildcard to one of their tournaments?

I agree: wild cards are about who deserves but who the selectors decide to dish them out to.

I guess you could say the reason for selection doesn't matter. Famous, local guy, young prospect etc.

But with this event being ranked I would hope the sponsor of any player would not be a factor in determining who gets one.

Shouldn't he be picking a code and sticking to it? Or is this only an issue when the likes of, ahem, 'PDC player' Ratajski is taking money from Duzza and Co?

I believe from the day after Finder Masters he will be choosing the PDC and becoming a PDPA member. Can’t ask for fairer than that.

Go the spot as a Wildcard, Most prob down to Winmau, So have to keep the sponsors happy.

Yes, he wont breach any eligibility rules until he plays at Ally Pally. Any removal of him from the tournament would be down to bitterness on the part of the Finder organisers and nothing more (unless he requests to pull out, of course)
