Re: PDC Order of Merit
Absolutely. And with 2nd round being best of 21, Lewis on his game, more than capable of competing at a venue he likes and has historically done very well.phil davies wrote:Lewis will be back in the low seeds for the match play then horrible second round draw for one of MvG, Cross or Wright.
Remember being in the Winter Gardens when Ando beat him in the quarter finals in 2014.
Still ranks as my favourite match witnessed live.

Re: PDC Order of Merit
Is that the highest Steve West has been?
Re: PDC Order of Merit
£160k in the last 2 years, another example of why the top BDO players are a bit bonkers really for not moving. I bet they all think they would do as well, if not better than Steve West... (that is not to put down Steve, as I am talking about players like McGeeny, Ross , Unterbuchner etc.)Wubbalubbadubdub wrote:Is that the highest Steve West has been?
Re: PDC Order of Merit
Well Steve doesn't seem to do anything special, him being above the likes of Henderson or Reyes may seem strange. But at the same time there are very good players outside the top 32, some of them ex-BDO who were big names over there. I certainly think that some of the BDO players have a potential to do as good as West has, but for example Dimitri is only 37th and he's a better player than all 3 you listed.Skewball wrote:£160k in the last 2 years, another example of why the top BDO players are a bit bonkers really for not moving. So I don't think it's that easy to tell how someone would place in the rankings. I agree with your point though that they should definitely switch and give it a go.
Re: PDC Order of Merit
West took 5 years just to make the top 64 in the PDC and had to go back to Q School twice. Kudos to him that he battled through and is now getting rewarded for it, but if anything I think his career is a cautionary tale, especially for potential switchers who are now already much older than he was when he joined the PDC (36).

Re: PDC Order of Merit
Just to add Phil is right. West can go on a 180 run and quickly stack up a few legs. On that run he is capable of beating any player. Beat Taylor in the 2016 Grand Prix and beat Michael Smith in both the Last UK Open and Matchplay.Skewball wrote:ha, good stat. Re: PDC Order of Merit
Yeah but he has been doing that all his career. Phil's silly comment about him being better then all the bdo is churlish based on 180s

Unterbuchner holds the record for the most 180s in the prelim for Lakeside with 8. Closest in the 5 years was Larry Butler, Cedric Waegemans and John Michael with 5.oche balboa wrote:Lolphil davies wrote:The thing with West is he has unreal 180 power which no one left in the BDO can compete with that’s what helps him out a lot. Re: PDC Order of Merit
There's no doubt West is a lot better now than he ever was in the BDO...probably because of the events he plays in every week and he's now played a lot of TV events...basically he used to be crap on TV in the BDO....it does show that you cannot always compare like for like with PDC and BDO....there are still players in the BDO that given weekly Pro Tour events and a few goes on TV would raise their game and be consistently better than they currently are.

Ian White moves back up to #11 in the world, as Darren Webster climbs to a career-high #14 ranking. Mervyn King closes in on a return to the top 20.
