£25 for the two days of that in the magnificent Spa or £25 for the two days of this unsanctioned rival event in a working mens club, its a no brainer.oche balboa wrote:I'm off to the World Masters

So what actually happened with the edo not being at this event?
If they refused an invite their reasoning would be interesting to know.

This event is pointless, There are too many international events
I propose that the Six Nations and Home Internationals are every other year.

They probably took the common sense approach of not taking BDO money (three grand, I understand) as a financial inducement to attend an offshoot event that would annoy the world governing body.devosteve wrote:So what actually happened with the edo not being at this event?

Well done to the EDO in this instance.

now why on earth would the BDO give each org £3000 (if they have of course )? Surely not so the board could have a weekend in Scotland? Can't be to appease the home nations (they made the decision not to go to japan)?
Does no one ask the board their thinking here?

But I guess the organisations here think there is some point to this. Why do you think they have done this?oche balboa wrote:This event is pointless, There are too many international events

Will be interesting if any nations at the world cup are actually bothered. Maybe it is just a few of us on this forum.

The BDO give out money anyway for them to go to the World Cup, they are merely doing the same heredevosteve wrote:If you are right I agree. Although the difference is this event is illegitimate, and NI were offered the £3k as well....

Yes Ginge. Imagine if there was a rival international event set up directly against the official version... it would be a disgrace......Ginge wrote:You think it's alright just to run your own rival international event against the official World Cup?bukowski wrote:they can do what they want, nobody have to travel around the world for a WORLD Cup...and because they cant finance the travel to Japan at least they give the own players something to play for (guess its not that much cheaper)...might they think "can you see, we do something for the players"
i'm just waiting for a bid from them to host a WORLD Cup in the next few years
Imagine if it happened in football. Well it wouldn't happen as the world governing body wouldn't allow it or would sanction those that do.

I wonder if the WDF know that the BDO were offering financial inducements to four member orgs to attend this illegitimate event?
May have to pop them an email....

Disappointed in Winmau tbh, by any standards this whole tournament is pretty poor form considering these countries couldn't be bothered to send teams to the World Cup. They'll be giving us the excuse of they didn't have the money blah blah blah but here's the thing, if they saved the money they are wasting on this debacle then maybe they could afford to be at the next world cup.

Put on some more of these "challenges" at £25 a head they'll save the money for the next one no bother.

Hope it backfires in someway.
I have never considered international games in darts as the pinnacle of the sport. But there is a principle at stake here.
And to top it off the bdo have helped to fund this?
Imagine if the ndb decide to pitch run the wc against the bdo because of the disrespect shown toward the wdf.
Crazy idea: but they could run it at lakeside (thus sponsor sorted) and they could set the points system as they wanted to.
still think edo have done the right thing by not going.
But as one player has said: it's all about the caps! Tainted ones though.
