So who is to blame ?

Post by Little Lonely Garry »

I wonder if it is possible on here to ask a question where people will judge a post on its merit as opposed to the poster.
We have seen plenty of examples of "shoot the messenger on here so lets see how this goes
---------------------------

Now that it is OFFICIAL that Arm Wrestling gets more viewers than bdo darts one must ask the question
Where does the blame lie ?

For years Mushrooms tried to slate the PDC for hiring a business man and professional in Barry Hearn, they even moaned when the hired professional had the audacity to dare take a wage for his work, the bdo "family" and "loyalty" rubbish was spewed out.
There is an old saying, if you pay peanuts you get monkeys and that has never been more apt than now in the bdo.

So who is more responsible?
Sue Williams as heard of the board of rank amateurs who has dragged the bdo to a place far worse now than it was when Olly Croft was disposed
or is the fault with the counties who made it possible for Williams and her cronies to continue on year after year
or the rank and file members who think they are the greatest fans, form facebook groups calling themselves fanatics, and supposedly numbering thousands yet you only need look at the Catas Trophy to see these so called loyal fanatics were not that fanatical.

The BDO has a product that is bombing in a time when PDC darts is booming
Their inability to piggyback of the success of the PDC lies solely with the board, and when said board failed, the counties did nothing and paved the way for the board to carry on making the same bad decisions, and the so called wrongly named fanatics who will spend their time defending the mess , and would rather moan about the excuses than accepting they too are a major part of the problem.

Personally I think the bdo are cooked, and have been for years, there is simply no way back for them, and they only players that once might have been a name are all well over 50 and will be gone soon.

So who is to blame ?

I am. We go through this 1,000 times

The buck stops with the top and the old fashioned way the BDO is actually run, It needs a more social media presence to communicate with people and engage, If the BDO paid me £25,000 a year i would happily do it (WIll not happen of course).

The amount of people who tweet/DM me saying "I did not know about this event" shows what the BDO need to do to make causal people aware of their product

I have summarised it for you, let's talk about the poster instead.

When they both had darts on the same channel the bdo comfortably got higher numbers.

So pdc darts probably would have finished even lower on frontrunner by that reckoning.

Not something I'd boast about if I had your stance on darts.

Comparing the jewel in the BDO crown to a meaningless exhibition still.

It's the only comparable evidence we have on the subject. Anything else is guesswork.

Isn't the willingness of big tv networks to (continue) broadcasting events comparable evidence? Or the number of people that actually pay to go to events?

If the subject wasn't entirely about tv ratings, yes that would have relevance.
