That Murphio is getting quite nasty. Glad I'm not the only one who has noticed.devosteve wrote:Depends who you have judged to be in that gang.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:Majority of the anti-BDO gang very quiet

I am not a player (my wife plays in the local pub league) in a pub but do play quite regularly at home.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:How many of you want the BDO to go out of business?
If so, what would you do with the thousands of players within the system?
Thank you for reading.

Fair enough. I'm not a viewer. I play in teams nearly every day of the week so am out a lot. I play in one or two opens a year and go to lakeside for a couple of days every year.devosteve wrote:I am not a player (my wife plays in the local pub league) in a pub but do play quite regularly at home.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:How many of you want the BDO to go out of business?

I am TV viewer and will watch most, if not all, pdc events. Also I record every BDO (edo etc) event. I watch some of these and try to watch most of the ladies games.
I attend the matchplay every year. Been to the UK open at Bolton. Like to go to at least one other event in North west. Thus have been to Blackpool casino (edo ). 2 wdt's, and 1 gold cup at event city.
never been to county game.
so my thoughts on your question:
If I am honest I don't really care about super league or the county system re results etc. I know they need to be there for darts players but I couldn't care less for example if Lancashire were relegated. But that doesn't stop me having an opinion re the counties: example I think regionalisation would be good.
re the BDO going out of business : I see it from, mainly, the top end perspective. I think the board are doing a very bad job. I hate the 'social club' mentality that sometimes comes across. I would like there to be only one world championship. Would have liked the BDO to have connected with hearn and his offer.
I think the BDO should concentrate on the amateur side of the game. Re name lakeside as the lakeside international trophy. Swallow some pride and stop pretending it is the world championship. Stop hindering players who want to move on/up.
I do wonder if the BDO actually deserve to go belly ups! The counties have voted the board back on. New era all forgotten. Wdt a farce. Yet things keep on rolling.
The edo can take up responsibilities in England.
big weakness though: ladies darts. I wouldn't like to see that disappear. What would happen to their world championship? I genuinely like watching the top flight in ladies darts.
Just some quick initial thoughts mongoose.
You don't need ambition to play superleague. I've seen more players involved in sl that are shitter than you at darts than are better than you.Moongoose McQueeen wrote:Fair enough. I'm not a viewer. Super league then possibly county are my ambitions. In my 30's so plenty of time yet unless it all goes tits up.
I would rather it stayed as it is as I don't trust Hearn. I do think however we need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Hell! Moving into the 90's would be a start.
Ok. Then maybe not just getting a game. But winning more than I lose. But anyway point is I want us to keep Hearn's hands off the grass roots.Rout wrote:You don't need ambition to play superleague. The grass roots can't just disappear. Who oversees it ???Moongoose McQueeen wrote:I'm referring to the system. An alternative to the PDC.Ginge wrote:The top end, however, is a dead duck. New Era fiasco, no TV station seemingly interested in paying for anything other than Lakeside. All the "ranked opens" can easily be picked up by the EDO, SDA and WDO who already run ranked opens anyway. Life would go on without the BDO, although you need to be clear whether you are talking about the "BDO" or the "system" as a whole.
Super-league is over-rated and outdated. How many people in your local area turn up at a super-league match? In the old days when the pubs were shut it had a following, if only because of the lock in.Moongoose McQueeen wrote: Fair enough. I'm not a viewer. Now its reduced to a bunch of mates who are half decent to raise their own funds to get a team together, source your own venue and hope to get them to put some money towards it. Then your forced to play on bank holidays in cup competitions and then your team starts to fall out with each other.
County really is "If your face fits", certain county selectors have tried to poach players from other teams by saying they will be in the county side. Again how well is your county publicising these matches and again who bar players and basic hangers on, go to these?
Most people have now realised how pointless the BDO is with the opportunities on the PDC side, they cater for all age groups(and in this gender neutral society) the women are catered for within that aspect.
Your better option and one that's popped up everywhere is to arrange your own "Premier League" run over a series of weeks against your best players, far more experience to be gained and far better preparation for Opens and longer events.
Thousands of players, take a look at the averages of half of them and tell me if that's helpful in anyway. Landlords can't be arsed with it halfway through the season and the amount of players that fall out with each other and don't play again is unbelievable. But you are out of the loop really on this because you barely took any interest when you were in a venue.Rout wrote:Seems to be more teams entering every season in lancs. 80 odd teams and thousands of players. That's one county. Not bad considering everyone's realised superleague is shit and noone plays it anymore.

No. The people that did that got booted out of the pub for being behind in rent to the tune of 5 figures.Ginge wrote:Have the H*****s put the carvery back on again?
Didn't they move to the pub across the road from Gordon Rigg garden centre? Not the Hornet, the older one, forget the name.Rout wrote:No. The people that did that got booted out of the pub for being behind in rent to the tube of 5 figures.Ginge wrote:Have the H*****s put the carvery back on again?
