The Official 2018 PDC World Championship Howlers Thread
Re: The Official 2018 PDC World Championship Howlers Thread
It really is quite telling, I think, that in thrashing around trying to even up the score, the Gimps have included the PDC enticing the current Winmau World Master away from a guaranteed spot at Lakeside to play in its world championship instead as a 'howler'.

I think this has to go on, read the comments, oh dear.

It is scandalous. It needs to be stopped in every sport quite frankly.ifm wrote:I think this has to go on, read the comments, oh dear.

Ticket touting is illegal, apart from several websites.
Re: The Official 2018 PDC World Championship Howlers Thread
They do have 4-5x as many for sale!oche balboa wrote:https://alexandrapalaceevents.seeticket ... worlddarts
Still tickets for sale, Despite Ginge having digs at the tickets left at Lakeside
There will still be 45-50,000 people through the doors in the next couple of weeks.

2 tickets on there for the first night on the tables, £35 each.
How does that compare to Lakeside?
Lots of others a lot more expensive though.

Good morning all. I had a nice night at darts and come back to rather a lot of seething. So, can anyone summarise, have there actually been anymore 'howlers' I need to add?????!
Re: The Official 2018 PDC World Championship Howlers Thread
ifm wrote:So, so far we have these, anymore?
1/ Draw not done until only a couple of weeks before the event meaning people not knowing what matches they are going to stare at the stands at.
2/ Draw later than advertised, hilarity ensued as a result.
3/ Dave Clark called out a wrong player during the draw
4/ PDC couldn't find anyone good enough through ranking or qualifying, so issued wildcards for its premier event, including one to a player who hadn't even played any PDC ranking events in the whole year
5/ "You need to hit a 110 average to win a game in the PDC"
you are trying way to hard on this.
and he did not say number 5 as you quoted it

I have had a look at the above and added one

I am an advocate of getting rid of these secondary sites altogether and I think it is outrageous that they are allowed to carry on these practices.ifm wrote:Dear lord.BlueSpark wrote:2 tickets on there for the first night on the tables, £35 each.

And I agree that the PDC maybe should not endorse such sites.
But they serve a purpose, if people genuinely cant go and want to find some way of selling them on. But they should be at face value plus maybe postage costs, not vastly over inflated.
The people or companies who buy them wholesale then sell them on straightaway at a profit are the ones that should be curtailed.
I was merely demonstrating that not all of the resale tickets are vastly over inflated in their resale value.

There is a website called TWICKETS that does just that.BlueSpark wrote:I am an advocate of getting rid of these secondary sites altogether and I think it is outrageous that they are allowed to carry on these practices.ifm wrote:Dear lord.BlueSpark wrote:2 tickets on there for the first night on the tables, £35 each.

You can pick up some last minute bargains from time to time.
You can occasionally get bargains from Viagogo. I got tickets off there on Saturday for the Paul Heaton gig at Sheffield Arena for £5 each.

The venue sell a huge percentage straight to viagogo in order for them to increase the exclusivity and effectively massively increase the ticket price.BlueSpark wrote:I am an advocate of getting rid of these secondary sites altogether and I think it is outrageous that they are allowed to carry on these practices.ifm wrote:Dear lord.BlueSpark wrote:2 tickets on there for the first night on the tables, £35 each.

Actually i think i need to add this as a direct increase to ticket prices.

I dont think its the venues doing this, its the promoters and the ticket sites that are the problem. You find with most gigs the venue doesn't actually get a say on what happens to the tickets they are stuck being told what to do by the promoter.ifm wrote:The venue sell a huge percentage straight to viagogo in order for them to increase the exclusivity and effectively massively increase the ticket price.BlueSpark wrote:I am an advocate of getting rid of these secondary sites altogether and I think it is outrageous that they are allowed to carry on these practices.ifm wrote:Dear lord.BlueSpark wrote:2 tickets on there for the first night on the tables, £35 each.

I went to an Arcade Fire gig the other month at the Baths Hall, queued up to get tickets because I know how much of a shit storm it is to get tickets online for small events and it was ridiculous. Baths hall had 4 seating tickets and 25 standing tickets to sell at the door because the promoter wanted the rest on the websites. Sold out on the websites within 4 minute and up on resale sites within seconds.
I could rant all fucking day about this because I despise the mentality about reselling sites but until the public changes the sites wont change. The most laughable thing Ive seen is the Foo fighters gig this year, they decided to put names on tickets and all tickets required ID or you couldn't enter, some idiots decided to buy tickets on reselling sites and obviously wasn't allowed in because they didn't have Id. Guess what story BBC news ran with that night.......a story slating Foo fighters for not letting people in to their gig and got a couple of families on who gave a sob story about how theyve lost hundreds of pounds and didnt get to see the gig.
Its greed at its very worst and it should be completely illegal to tout tickets for more money. It is for football so why not everything else?
