Tour Card 2018 - Qualification Watch

Post by Dannyboy »

One event to go then - the World Championship, although it shouldn't see that much meaningful movement.

I'd say 92 players have confirmed their tour cards, unless something ridiculous happens this month, with a further two I'd say provisionally OK subject to results at Alexandra Palace.

Top 64 PDC Order of Merit
Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, Gary Anderson, Daryl Gurney, Mensur Suljovic, Dave Chisnall, Simon Whitlock, James Wade, Michael Smith, Benito van de Pas, Gerwyn Price, Ian White, Raymond van Barneveld, Kim Huybrechts, Alan Norris, Jelle Klaasen, Rob Cross, Joe Cullen, Adrian Lewis, Stephen Bunting, Mervyn King, Darren Webster, Kyle Anderson, Steve Beaton, Cristo Reyes, Justin Pipe, Robert Thornton, Johnny Clayton, James Wilson, John Henderson, Mark Webster, Steve West, Chris Dobey, Vincent van der Voort, Christian Kist, Brendan Dolan, Jermaine Wattimena, Robbie Green, Ronny Huybrechts, Jamie Caven, Dimitri van den Bergh, Kevin Painter, Jan Dekker, James Richardson, Jamie Lewis, Josh Payne, Max Hopp, Devon Petersen, Richard North, Ron Meulenkamp, Joe Murnan, Jeffrey de Graaf, Andrew Gilding, Willie O Connor, Keegan Brown, Rowby John Rodriguez, Ricky Evans, Steve Lennon, Mick McGowan
This is subject to Phil Taylor and Terry Jenkins resigning their tour cards at the conclusion of the season.

Second Year Tour Cards
Martin Schindler, Antonio Alcinas, Ryan Searle, Ross Twell, Aden Kirk, Prakash Jiwa, Lee Bryant, Stephen Burton, Jim Brown, Ritchie Edhouse, Royden Lam, Maik Langendorf, Scott Taylor, Richie Burnett, John Part, Kirk Shepherd, Paul Nicholson, Jamie Bain, Jimmy Hendriks, Ronnie Baxter, Steve Hine, Sven Groen, Paul Rowley, Scott Darbyshire, Michael Mansell, Chris Quantock, John Norman Jnr, Darren Johnson, Madars Razma
Martin Schindler is provisionally in the Top 64, subject to World Championship results, but qualifies via this method in any case.
Antonio Alcinas could be in the Top 64 if he gets to the Last 32 at Alexandra Palace.

UK Qualifying School
To be decided - 40 entries so far. Tour cards available expected to be via entry numbers.

European Qualifying School
To be decided - 10 entries so far. Tour cards available expected to be via entry numbers.

Challenge Tour 2017
Wayne Jones, Mark Dudbridge

Development Tour 2017
Luke Humphries, Adam Hunt
Dimitri van den Bergh qualifies via Top 64.

His much better 2016 has saved him, 2017 was very poor in comparison.

Dunvegan Enterprises have just tweeted that Adam Hunt has been awarded a Tour Card for finishing 3rd in the Development Tour, after Dimitri qualifying through being World Youth Champion. This seems to be a complete contradition of the OOM rule below.

6.9     The following incentives are on offer to players competing in the Challenge Tour, Development Tour and World Youth Championship:

The finalists of the 2017 World Youth Championship receive a one-year invitation to the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts subject to the entry criteria as stated in rule 3.1 of this document.

The winner of the 2017 World Youth Championship receives an invitation to the 2017/18 World Championship.

NOTE: in the event of the players who achieve the above otherwise qualifying for the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts or 2017/18 World Championship, or rejecting their invitations, no further places shall be offered.

The 2017 Challenge and Development Tour Order of Merit winners and runners-up will receive two-year Tour Cards for 2018 and 2019.

NOTE: in the event that any of the players who achieve the above qualify otherwise for a Tour Card or reject their invitations, places will not be offered further down the Challenge and Development Tour Orders of Merit.

The players who finish third to eighth (countback applied in event of ties) on the 2017 Challenge Tour and Development Tour Orders of Merit will receive free entry to the 2018 Q School.

NOTE: in the event that any of the players who achieve the above qualify otherwise for a Q School place or reject their invitations, places will not be offered further down the Challenge and Development Tour Orders of Merit.

It may be a contradiction but the right thing to do. Why the Pdc don't go down the feeder tour rankings is stupid in itself.

Another howler really as it's not the first time that they've changed the years rules at the last minute.

I'd argue that more players should come directly from the Challenge Tour and Development Tour anyway. These guys have done it across 16+ events, rather than over four days at Q School.

I'd argue that the Top 6 players from each of the Challenge Tour and Development Tours should be awarded tour cards at the end of the season. Plus the winners of the regional tours too.

I still think it's broken that Dev tour players can play in CT so disagree with them getting a card, if you are going to do this type of feeder thing then they should get q school entry instead.

Why does that make a difference? Two separate orders of merit, 12 players get a tour card that way rather than going through the zoo method of heading up to Wigan in January.

Well a feeder system doesn't jump a step, q school gives the odd few the opportunity if they are good enough without having to do CT.
So dev>CT or q school>pro tour, at the mo it's dev+CT>pro tour or q school.

How did you come up with that second part? Did they announce somewhere they are not entering or is it a 'did not enter as of yet' list?
