The Unicorn 2018 PDC Worlds Prediction Competition-HOMEPAGE
The Unicorn 2018 PDC Worlds Prediction Competition-HOMEPAGE
The Unicorn 2018 World Championships Prediction Game!
This thread will be updated with the current tables and rules etc.
Prizes
The Top 2 will win a set of darts of their choosing from the Unicorn catalogue -(click here)
Third place will win a Unicorn Eclipse Pro dartboard - the true choice of the professional
Thanks as always go to Unicorn for their generosity.
In addition, a randomly selected entry from the First Round thread, as long as they have predicted in all rounds, will also win a set of darts of their choosing
What to do
Before each round I shall start a thread where I shall ask you to predict the scores of all the matches. THE FIRST TWO THIRD ROUND GAMES WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THIS COMPETITION, THIS ALSO APPLIES FOR THE BONUS QUESTIONS. Also for extra points, the player who you think will achieve highest and lowest averages for each round and also the highest checkout of the round, up to and including the semi finals.
The final will have 2 bonus questions, which will be decided by myself on posting the Final thread.
Scoring is as follows:
Up to and including the last 32 - 2 points for correct result, 4 points for correct result AND score
Last 16 - 4 points for correct result,8 points for correct result AND score
QF's - 6 points for correct result, 12 points for correct result AND score
SF's - 8 points for correct result, 16 points for correct result AND score
Final - 15 points for correct result, 30 points for correct result AND score
Bonuses will be 10 points each up to and including the Semi Finals. In the event of a tie for the bonus question, 10 points will be awarded to each player.
The 2 bonus questions for the Final will be worth 20 points each.
In your prediction for the FIRST ROUND I shall ask you to specify a set of darts of your choosing from the Unicorn catalogue - (click here). Entries without this vital information may be ignored!!! If no darts are chosen, the prize reverts to the next highest placed player.
Be aware that the set you choose in the First Round thread is the set you win.
A template will follow soon.
Good luck!
DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES - Thursday 14th Dec 7.00pm
Smallprint
The highest two scores will win the set of darts of their choosing, with the 3rd highest score winning the dartboard
If a tie is needed to split the winners, then bonuses will be disregarded and the player with the highest aggregate score across all rounds excluding bonuses shall win. If still tied, the player(s) with the highest Final Night score will win in the tie.
If still tied after this, then countback will take place, looking at who had the highest Semi Final session score, highest Quarter Final etc, until a tie can be split. In the unlikely event there is still a tie, the earliest first round Prediction wins.
All entries need to have a dart code and weight as published on the Unicorn website. If an entry does not have this information than the prize will revert to fourth place and so on. The darts selected in the first round will be the darts shipped, no exceptions (unless out of stock in which case the winner will be asked to pick another)
The decision of myself and the site moderators are final. I myself will not be claiming any prize, if I win a prize then it will revert to the next player in the table, or the random draw will be repeated.
The random draw will use the thread for the First Round and as a loyalty this can only be won by someone who has predicted in all rounds. The same user cannot win the random draw and a prize by finishing in the top three. If the random draw selects them, it will be redrawn.
Entries made after the published deadline in each round may be accepted at my discretion, minus the bonuses and matches that have been played already.
All entries made by duplicate accounts, will be disregarded.[/quote]

Just for clarification Neil. Do the prelims count for lowest 1st round average. If not I will have to edit my selection.

Random Number Generator for random draw
Here you go Sparky. Easier for me to do it rather than run you through it, I wont bother entering the comp.
The winning post number relates to the First Round thread, if that post doesnt exist (or the person hasnt entered all rounds), we move down until a winner can be found.
Will PM you the password for it.

Yes John, the matches are all counted the same for bonus purposes, regardless of preliminary or first round games.ssjsa wrote:Just for clarification Neil. Do the prelims count for lowest 1st round average. If not I will have to edit my selection.

Ginge just enter. If people have issues tough in them. PM predictions to Bluespark for round 1 so you still get a random number and not one you chose, or just say you will pass up any chance of being random winner if thats easier.Ginge wrote:Random Number Generator for random draw

Its meant to be a fun friendly free comp to add a bit more interest in forum, world champs etc. If members have issues then its their issues and they are sad bastards.
Thinking of one.
Re: RE: Re: The Unicorn 2018 PDC Worlds Prediction Competition-HOMEPAGE
Well I suppose if I am the winning post, I can just pass the prize on anyway to the next in line like I would normally do. Fair point. The Crusader wrote:Ginge just enter. Didn't notice you said you wouldn't enter.
Of course you can, you don't pick the random number.

Advertised the Competition on our Twitter page. Good response and a few more following us.
Let'see if this results in an increased entry.Would be good to get into the 3 figures.

Me finishing rank last out of over a hundred would be a complete new low for me.ssjsa wrote:Advertised the Competition on our Twitter page. Good response and a few more following us.

Interesting to see that for peoples darts picks a lot of them are the Lowe/Taylor type, goes to show how a solid dart shape seems to still be popular.

More work for me though
Re: The Unicorn 2018 PDC Worlds Prediction Competition-HOMEPAGE
In fairness, this one a lot more tricky and more work than the UK open one to calculate.
Although that is also my favourite one by a mile.

Only about 40 entries so far.
I'm expecting a big flurry around 6.30pm tomorrow.

The first update of this comp will be the 27th Dec, as I have no wifi at home to upload the spreadsheet. And it's Christmas, which means I am busy.
Will have to go on the wifi at my local.

My first job over here we had three modem lines for a company of 80 odd people. You had to book time to use it.BlueSpark wrote:Ha. And an IT guy who monitored what you were looking at. So if it was porn you didn't get a booking that easy.
