Taylor's retirement

Post by Paddy McGinty »

Well that's it Taylor's retired, I for one won't miss his pathetic antics but do you think he will stay retired or is this just a ploy to make it all about him again and get a trophy named after him........

He isn't in this year, can't imagine them putting him in next year when people haven't seen him in tv tournaments for a year.

Barney talked about him possibly being in world series events but can't see that either.

Do you think he would become a pundit or commentator.

As he has retired from professional darts I wouldn't be surprised to see him win Lakeside in 2019 if there is one.

Just a shame if it did happen we wouldn't be able to see it on TV

They changed a rule in 2017 which would stop Taylor getting a free pass to the Lakeside and Masters qualifiers, so he would have to win a ranking event or play a county qualifier.

If they changed this rule to preempt a Taylor retirement, make your own minds up :D

It would be good to see him return to the place of his finest World championship win.

He wouldn't qualify, it's not based on what you won 2 years ago ;)

I know, that's why I created this thread. Imagine winning that and having his name displayed on your mantlepiece, you'd want to hide in the cupboard under the stairs.

You could always cover up his name with the 115,000 pound check, that would soften the blow. ;)

I'm sure MVG will love lifting the "Phil Taylor" trophy. :)

But no way will Taylor ever un-retire now, not after yesterdays drubbing, no one wants to see a legends career gradually diminish more and more...he probably should of went 5 years ago after he won in 2013.

I doubt anyone would really mind though would they? Winning the World Matchplay is an amazing feat, they could probably call it the "Shitpiss Trophy for Cunts" and players would still be thrilled to win it.

Isn't Taylor an honourary member of PDC/PDPA (along with all the original defectors)? Would this not give him some benefits?

Free entry to Q School at an absolute push maybe, other than that: no.
