He is, looked at the PDC page and scanned up the left hand side and saw they all lost. Hadn't realised they'd switched them around.oche balboa wrote:Smith is outThe Jolly Man wrote:All the PDC stars through so far. Anderson is the last one and just started his match. Gary through 6-3

Are you sure because the results I have seen shows one of the PDC players losing 6-4?The Jolly Man wrote:All the PDC stars through so far. Anderson is the last one and just started his match. Re: 2018 WSOD
I think John Hurring had two match darts to beat Rob Cross as well.

Re: 2018 WSOD
Ben Robb & John Hurring both played extremely well against Wizard & Cross. Very impressed with both - Robb's finishing & 180 hitting was a real test for Simon, and the D16 was on the inside wire. Simon polished up that 52 superbly, a masterclass from the Wizard in dealing with adversity right there.
Hurring was consistently good and deserved to beat Cross really, those two at tops for the match were right on the top wire, Cross with a classy 13-darter to punish against the throw.

Whitlock beats Cross 10-7. Finishing good from Whitlock but shouldn't have been given the chances.
Barney beats McGrath 10-4, easy win.
MvG v Ando coming on now.

Anderson battered by MVG 10-4
Took out the big fish to win one of his legs as well.
Whitlock, Barney, Wright and MVG through.

Re: 2018 WSOD
Will the semi's also be played today? Like they always do in WSOD-events?
Re: 2018 WSOD
No. Semis and final are tomorrow.Bram_1900 wrote:Will the semi's also be played today? Like they always do in WSOD-events?
So, clearly it's not "like they always do".
Re: 2018 WSOD
Semis are also best of 19 egs. Final best of 21. Starts 6pm (local time in Aukland) tomorrow. (7am UK)

Is that where Michael van Gerwin is playing tomorrow?DavidOwen67 wrote:Semis are also best of 19 egs. Final best of 21. Starts 6pm (local time in Aukland) tomorrow. (7am UK)
Or is it an offshoot of Birdland?
Am looking forward to Barney v Whitlock, hoping the Aussie makes it to the final.

Re: 2018 WSOD
Only watched Gary's first round match this evening, then have been watching on ITV 4 on delayed coverage.
Thought Michael played well, but Ando's start meant the match was over before it really got going.
Just watching Wright just now and looks like he has went back to his normal (and I use the word very loosely) set up. Know he wins 10-3, but will be watching to the end.
Have to say don't like the delayed coverage of these Would Series events, but I guess no real option for ITV4 given the time differences.

Re: 2018 WSOD
Correct me if I'm wrong David, but all 10 of Simon's won legs he was first to the double. In fact the only leg won by the player who reached the double second to his opponent was Cross' 86 bullseye finish in the 12th. Unless you mean Rob's set-up shots were not as amazing as they should have been?DavidOwen67 wrote:Whitlock beats Cross 10-7. Finishing good from Whitlock but shouldn't have been given the chances.

Wizard playing beautifully here, a 100 average and 55% on doubles to knock out Cross who played well himself. Two bull finishes of 130 & 126 as well, if he plays like that he'll beat Barney tomorrow for sure, but it's a big IF!

Re: 2018 WSOD
Well Whitlock didn't quite replicate his semi-final performance - 8 scores of 140 or better over 15 legs isn't going to be enough, a shame because he was once again superb on the outer ring with 5 from 6 doubles nailed, including yet another 126 finish for him!
Good run to the semis though, another good tournament for Simon.
Likewise, Barney produced scintillating darts to beat Whitlock -59% on doubles, 22 scores of 140 or better and a 103 average, but didn't bring that to the final against van Gerwen at all. Typical!

Re: 2018 WSOD
Quotes from Michael van Gerwen after the event: “There have been a few tournaments since I have won and I know I don’t need to send any messages but sometimes it is nice to let everyone know who is boss."
The arrogance of the man1 A reminder to everyone why so many don't like him right there. He is the best player in the world when he's on his game more often than not, and has been since 2013, but he can be beaten by anyone (JDZ twice, Henderson Grand Prix, Cross semis WC), so to say that he's the boss is ludicrous and obnoxious.

Re the infamous pdc bubble that has been about to burst for the last few years :
Watching it tonight and tons of empty seats at back (still a good crowd in).
Now showing highlight game from last year (cadby v K Anderson ). Not sure if it was 1st, 2nd or final night but the place was packed out with folk on the balcony.
If the same venue then interest is dropping.
