Only 28 off the top 50.
Pretty poor that the top guys not playing this one. I understand it is close to Lakeside and huge field but one to put on the darting CV.
Not sure what the issue is to be honest. Every one of the top 16 on that list who can get there is going, and all bar 3 of the top 32. I doubt this is very different from usual. So, pretty good from the top guys playing this one!

Just the rumours of the NDB talking to the PDC and that they are taking discussions further you wonder what the future holds for tournaments like this

But that's been doing the rounds for a couple of years now. Have the NDB gone back to its regions for a vote to have discussions with the PDC?

Thought that was the stage we are at, the regions voted to have discussions?

Just a thought but despite this being one of the biggest tournaments in terms of entries, it only has a prize fund of 30K. If one of the stipulations from Barry was to make this a euro tour event, with a £135,000 prize fund, but kept it open for Dutch players and people going to Qschool, it would surely be a hard offer for the Dutch to turn down (especially if you offered top Dutch players at the end of the year Ally Pally places and a tour card)

Would be an interesting tournament if the PDC got it under their umbrella. I could see them using it as a basis for a European open. Q-School entrant would them be able to play in a series of qualifying events much like the UK open qualifiers. Would be a blow for the BDO side to lose a 30K tournament.

I can't really see this becoming a PDC event, the NDB would be mad to sacrifice these thousands of entries for a Euro Tour. If they decide to switch to the PDC side I think they'd demand this could stay the same.

Last I had seen was a couple of years ago. The board were keen to keep talking, went to the regions to see if they were happy to do so but voted against.

Would imagine the Dutch Open would stay as a massive ranked PDC open if it were to switch. Think the prize money would be a bit more than the euro tour.

Think the issue the PDC have with the Dutch is that they can't have bookie sponsors at events

I'm sure if it came to it they would have set up as per the uk open. So the tour card holders came in last 256 or something.
