Michael Smith 5-4 Mark McGeeney
Simon Whitlock 2-5 Cameron Menzies

Total record: 9-7

I'm sure bringing in 8 additional BDO players who are worse than the ones already there is really going to help to close the gap. Chris Landman for GSOD!

On a side note, 5 of those 10 BDO wins were achieved by players who have since moved to the PDC. Technically 6, but I guess Fitton's headed back in October, and didn't really do anything in the PDC this year anyway. Glen Durrant had 3 of the remaining 4 wins. (Glen Durrant is the only non-difference between the codes. :))

Fitton played PDC and then had a back op so that’s a misnomer to begin with

PDC players are ultimately going to be better as they are the professional. Like the FA Cup (prem sides are better then championship ones) in Europe (the rump of the champions league sides would beat the Europa League guys) etc

BDO Have never has the top 8 in their rankings. This year they will. Not saying it will be any better but we may see different results. BDO were realistically 4 legs away from beating the PDC players(Group stages) last year (Monday when Mitchell, Menzies, Durrant & McGeeney)
You talk a lot of sense - I never said the BDO players were better - Just that the differance is a few darts each way and a few players at the end of the day - People twist wat I was saying - The BDO players got both thumbs up from me last year -

So Veenstra's double win this weekend means Waites is out of the running.

Nobody to blame but himself, has scored points in much fewer events than the rest of the Top 16 so by that logic he will have played in less events as well.

1 McGeeney - 378
2 Durrant - 375
3 Williams - 343
4 Harms - 339
5 Mitchell - 331
6 Unterbuchner - 304
7 Robson - 292

8 Veenstra - 289

So both Hamilton and Veenstra will be praying for a favourite for the Masters.

No no no no this will be their strongest 8 players ever at the event so they should all get through the group and at least half of them into the quarters.

I still get a giggle out of the fact bdo players stand to earn more money thanks to the charity of the pdc than what their own bdo org can provide them

THE 2018 Bwin Grand Slam will soon descend upon Wolverhampton once again, and the prestigious event will see top players from both the BDO and PDC compete for the £450,000 prize pot.

Current World Professional and World Trophy Champion Glen Durrant and 2018 World Professional runner-up Mark McGeeney lead the charge for the BDO as the current number one and two seeds on the BDO ranking tables.

Both Durrant and McGeeney will be in good company, as 2015 World Professional Champion Scott Mitchell returns for his fourth consecutive year and Germany’s Michael Unterbuchner, himself a 2018 World Pro semi-finalist and 2018 World Trophy runner-up, will be making his Grand Slam debut.

Adam Smith-Neale’s recent success at the Winmau World Masters not only won him a spot in the 2019 BDO World Professional Championships, but also sees him earn his first Grand Slam appearance, along with 2018 BDO International Open Winner, Jim Williams and current BDO World Number seven, Gary Robson.

Completing the BDO line-up is current England Classic Champion, ‘Sparky’ Wesley Harms, who makes his fourth Grand Slam appearance.

BDO Representatives

Glen Durrant

Mark McGeeney

Jim Williams

Wesley Harms

Michael Unterbuchner

Scott Mitchell

Gary Robson

Adam Smith-Neale

They will be joining 24 top PDC players, including current PDC World Champion, Rob Cross, three-times, and defending Grand Slam Champion, Michael van Gerwen, 2018 World Matchplay winner, Gary Anderson and 2017 World Youth Champion, Dimitri Van den Bergh.

This year’s event takes place at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton from the 10th-18thNovember and is available to watch live on Sky Sports.

I think this is the worst set of bdo players we have had to be honest can't see Harms,Willams,Robson,McGeeney winning a game never mind getting out of the group but you never know i suppose

You obviously can't remember the year when the BDO had qualifiers then! This group are far better than that
