I dont mind it. Only thing I would change is allow a certain number of BDO players to enter today too.BlueSpark wrote:An utter joke these players get into the slam from a qualifier. They really need to knock this idea on the head and give it to more deserving players.

How many do we think will make it through the group stage?
Re: PDC Grand Slam of Darts- 10th-18th November 2018- Wolverhampton
The bwin Grand Slam of Darts draw is expected to be made on Tuesday November 6. Further details will be confirmed in due course.
Re: PDC Grand Slam of Darts- 10th-18th November 2018- Wolverhampton
Will depend upon the draw I think.ChrisW wrote:How many do we think will make it through the group stage?
Mark Webster and Bunting could get through if they get a good draw. So one of the weaker BDO players and a beatable player from pot 2 of the PDC winners.

At least BDO players have a chance now to become third in group.

Agree with Sparky in the main, in that Mervyn King, De Zwaan, Noppert, Mansell and Aspinall deserve to be there given they all won tournaments this season. Would have no issue with the remaining 3 spots being given to floor qualifiers rather than the next 3 in the OOM not already qualified. The Crusader wrote:I dont mind it. In relation to the BDO qualifiers, I think that their inclusion is the usp of the GSOD, and differentiates this event from the rest of the PDC Majors, but the quality of the BDO players has been diluted over the years, despite their qualifying criteria over the past 2 years providing the strongest 8 players within the organisation to represent them, and perhaps it is time to reduce their number to a level that is commensurate with their ability to provide players who can be competitive.
Anyway, all that being said I am looking forward to the tournament starting on Saturday, and as always will be hoping the BDO players do themselves justice and do well.

Am I right that only Bunting, who was a GSoD BDO player in the past, was the only top 32 player to make it through today?

Just in the hugely unlikely scenario that you didn't know, and was a genuine question.ChrisW wrote:Am I right that only Bunting, who was a GSoD BDO player in the past, was the only top 32 player to make it through today?

Will the PDC top 4 do themselves justice is the question you should be asking...

How is that lot any worse than this lot of amateurs ?ChrisW wrote:The 8 qualifiers.
Martin Schindler
Stephen Bunting
Andrew Gilding
Steve Hine
Mark Webster
Joe Murnan
Keegan Brown
Ryan Searle
Glen Durrant
Mark McGeeney
Jim Williams
Wesley Harms
Michael Unterbuchner
Scott Mitchell
Gary Robson
Adam Smith-Neale
I would also say that it's been harder for Steve Hine to qualify that it has been Gary Jobson

Going round the world to collect ranking points or play well on a day in a few matches...

Might also qualify for the worlds if Cadby pulls out.phil davies wrote:Very good day for Martin Schindler then. Also should see Gilding keep his tour card by remaining in the top 64.
