PDC Grand Slam of Darts- 10th-18th November 2018- Wolverhampton

Post by junior2003 »

If the story in the local newspaper is correct - Wolverhampton Civic Hall is going to be completely closed until 2020. Mentions GSOD in the copy as having to be moved.

Interesting they think it will stay in the city.

There is the Wulfrun Hall but it aint as big, is it?

How about the Telford International Centre which has hosted snooker before? Only a short drive from Wolverhampton.

Telford aint in Wolverhmapton the last time I looked, not even the same county. They seem to be confident everything booked there will be staying in the city, rather than heading down the M54.

No. Read the article in the OP.

"The council has confirmed that the Grand Slam of Darts WILL stay in the city".

Hence why you going on about Telford was a bit odd, I foolishly assumed you had read the article :DDD:

Well that wouldnt happen for the same reason, as well as Potter never allowing it as long as he draws breath. Methinks he has a blind loyalty to that side of darts. Exbos: fair enough, but never the proper stuff.

Hearn would never go for it either. Its a non starter for a multitude of reasons :D

I’d be happy with Lakeside but as already said it won’t happen.

The Grand theatre is my guess. Similar size to the civic.

Hmm, doubt the PDC would want a theatre, not really right in terms of seating set-up.

Its also being used the first weekend of the Slam anyway.

Do they not need a bigger venue now anyway, seems a bit small now, perfect 10 years ago when the GSODs and PDC were only just beginning to grow.

Other events perhaps but I think the GSoD popularity is the small Lakeside/Circus Tavern type venue.

If they move the event could they just do a big rebrand?

They might be sat there after recent events and say what's the point of inviting the best at lakeside if they can't move to pdc. Same with Ratajski now playing within the PDC and no WDT booked in for 2018.

The Wulfrun is at the back of the same building as the Civic so would think would be affected too.

No way this stays in Wolverhampton now. Easy way to move it somewhere they want it and just claim there is nowhere else suitable for “safety reasons”

Would be funny if they took it to lakeside
