Are you new to darts bud - King used to do better on the floor than TV in the BDO - Used to be number 1 - But didnt win much on TV -

Anyone who doesn't win the Lakeside or Masters every year does better on the floor in the BDO lol

King was number 1 in the BDO - Without winning the Lakeside or Masters - He turned up on the floor- But not on TV - I think Cross is the same - Other than the PDC worlds - The PDC today makes floor players look better than what they are - Because there are more of them - And people can follow then easier with the internet -

Guys, I have an idea. Why don't we organise a charity event, especially for Robson? Reading his posts, he really must have a very sad life.

Out of interest do you know what your best prediction has been? I'll guess 6 of 8.

PETER WRIGHT won his first PDC title of the year with a 6-4 victory over Rob Cross in the final of Players Championship 14 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan on Sunday.

The world number two held off a fightback from reigning World Champion Cross, who was bidding for a second Players Championship crown of the weekend.

Wright secured wins over Ross Twell, Davy Van Baelen, Josh Payne, Toni Alcinas, Dimitri Van den Bergh, Jermaine Wattimena and Cross en route to clinching the £10,000 top prize.

A winner of seven Players Championship titles in his career, Wright had reached four PDC ranking event finals in 2018 before going all the way in Sunday’s tournament.

“I thought I was going to throw it away there, I was glad to see the winning dart go in,” said Wright.

“My form has been very inconsistent, I can’t explain why but hopefully I’ve got that sorted now and I’ll be on the up from here.

“I had so much confidence coming into the weekend and I said I was going to win both titles, but to win one tournament with the standard of play here is a big achievement so I’m happy with that.

“I feel like I’ve been coming into form recently, it’s just a case of building some consistency now to keep winning more titles.”

Wright took an early advantage in the tie, breaking the Cross throw in the opening leg before doubling his advantage in the following leg.

Cross pulled one back before Wright landed a 76 finish to restore his two-leg cushion, and the former UK Open Champion won the next two legs to go within a leg of victory at 5-1.

Yesterday’s winner Cross fought back to 5-4 and then missed three darts at double to level, only for Wright to land double eight with his final dart in hand to seal the Players Championship 14 title.

Earlier in the day, Cross continued his successful weekend as he saw off William O’Connor, Mark Webster, Martin Schindler, Ryan Meikle, Adam Hunt and Michael Smith to win through to his third ProTour final of the year.

Elsewhere, Daryl Gurney was beaten by Dirk van Duijvenbode in round three, Mensur Suljovic went down to Jeffrey de Graaf in the second round and Dave Chisnall lost to Smith in the quarter-finals.

Simon Whitlock was also eliminated at the quarter-final stage by Jermaine Wattimena, as the Dutchman reached the final four for a second day in a row, while James Wade lost to Jason Lowe in the first round.

The next Players Championship events will be held on June 26-27 at The Barnsley Metrodome and will be streamed live on PDCTV-HD across both days.

ROB CROSS claimed his first PDC title since being crowned World Champion with a 6-4 win over Ian White in the final of Players Championship 13 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan on Saturday.

The world number three produced a 100.3 average in his second ProTour final of 2018 to stave off a comeback from White, who fought back from 4-0 down.

Cross recorded wins over Kevin Burness, William O’Connor, Ron Meulenkamp, John Henderson, Jonny Clayton, Stephen Bunting and White en route to clinching the £10,000 top prize.

“When I turned up today I believed I could do great things,” said Cross, who edged 11-leg thrillers against Meulenkamp, Henderson and Clayton.

“I was maybe a bit fortunate today, a few people missed match darts against me but I was there to get the job done and get the important wins.

“Ian is a great player - the way he holds himself, he does everything as a true professional and he fought back hard in that final, maybe it could’ve gone the other way.

“I’m still learning and I’m going to get even better – when I’m complete as a player I will win even more but it feels great to win a title again.”

A see-saw final saw Cross race into a 4-0 lead thanks to some high scoring and clinical finishing, before White stopped the rot after the reigning World Champion missed darts to make it 5-0.

White then turned the tie on its head, rattling off the next three legs to level the score at 4-4, before the missing six darts at double to go ahead and Cross punished to break throw and go within a leg of victory.

Cross wrapped up the win with an impressive 13-dart hold of throw in the final leg to seal a fifth Players Championship title of his career.

It was also a day to remember for White who enjoyed his best run at a Players Championship event since his title win in March and produced a stunning 109.1 average in his last 16 clash with Martin Schindler.

The Stoke thrower defeated Prakash Jiwa, Robert Thornton, Chris Quantock, Schindler, Dirk van Duijvenbode and Jermaine Wattimena to reach the final as he almost racked up a ninth Players Championship crown of his career.

Elsewhere, it was a disappointing day for world number two Peter Wright who was dumped out by Terry Jenkins in round one, while Daryl Gurney’s run was ended by Peter Jacques in the second round.

Mensur Suljovic lost to German ace Schindler in round three, and Dave Chisnall and Michael Smith also suffered first round exits at the hands of Mickey Mansell and Mark Wilson respectively

Simon Whitlock was defeated by Jermaine Wattimena in round three and James Wade lost to Jeffrey de Graaf in round two.

The Players Championship weekend will continue tomorrow with Player Championship 14 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan and will be streamed live on PDCTV-HD.

My 2 last posts obviously not in chronological order.

However in the absence of MVG and Gary, good to see the No.2 and 3 in the OOM get their first tournament wins of 2018.

Makes for a great Matchplay, with as many players as possible finding their form before Blackpool.
