The 2018 Premier League Comp - sponsored by Unicorn
The true test of predicting stamina!
16 weeks of darts action.
The event will be running the same as last year, with one small change where you pick a match for DOUBLE POINTS.
Weeks 1 to 10
The overall leader after Week 10 ("Judgement Night") will win a set of darts of his/her choosing from the Unicorn catalogue (click here)
Weeks 11 (includes both Rotterdam nights) to 16
After Week 10 the scores will all be RESET. The winner after Week 9 will be ineligible for any further prizes
The leader after finals night ("Week 16") will ALSO win a set of darts of his/her choosing.
In addition, the runner-up will pick up a Unicorn Eclipse Pro dartboard - the true choice of the professional
Random Draw for Weekly Winners
The sixteen weekly winners (excluding the three winners above) will be placed in a random draw. This random draw will be done at the start of the event and posted on here in a password-protected spreadsheet. At the conclusion of the 16 weeks the password will be divulged and the winner will be revealed, a set of darts is also on offer.
Scoring - Weeks 1 to 15
Every week I shall start a thread where you make your predictions. This thread will have all the tables and standings.
- Predict the scores of the 5 or 6 matches. First to 7, although draws are possible at 6-6. However the number of points you earn will depend on the final scoreline:
Correct winner (but wrong scoreline) = 2 pts
6-6 = 5 points
7-5 = 4 points
7-4 = 4 points
7-3 = 6 points
7-2 = 6 points
7-1 = 8 points
7-0 = 8 points
Therefore if you think the match will be won by more than one break of throw, this will earn you more points! Do you take the risk or go for a safe 7-5 option? The choice is yours!
Also this year, pick one game for DOUBLE POINTS! But beware, if you pick a game and the other player wins (or it is/isn't a draw), you will be DOCKED 5 points
- I also would like to know who you think will get the HIGHEST AVERAGE, LOWEST AVERAGE and who will get the MOST 180's on the night. Just the name will do, not what you think the highest/lowest average will be! TWO POINTS for each of the averages, ONE POINT for the correct prediction of who will get the most 180's.
With each entry, I will also ask you to provide two tiebreak of how many 180s you think will be hit on the night, and also what the highest checkout on the night will be.
Scoring - Finals Night
Predict the scoreline of the semi final matches, there will be THIRTEEN points on offer for guessing the correct result and scoreline, and SIX points for the correct winner only.
For the final I shall be asking you to predict all four possible scenarios, and this time there will be SEVENTEEN points on offer for guessing the correct result and scoreline, and EIGHT points for the correct winner only.
Bonuses will again be on offer, this time FOUR points for the highest/lowest average, and TWO points for the highest checkout.
Again, with your entry, I will also ask you to provide two tiebreaks of how many 180s you think will be hit on the night, and also what the highest checkout of the night will be
Good luck!
Smallprint
The highest score each week will be considered that weeks winner and be entered into the random draw. If a tie, then the "number of 180s" tiebreaker comes into operation, and the nearest wins. If still a tie, the the "highest checkout" tiebreaker comes into operation, and the nearest wins
If still tied, then the bonus points will be disregarded and the highest in the tie then wins. If STILL a tie, then both/all names will be added into the draw at the end of the competition however this is highly unlikely to occur.
For the table leader prizes, the person with the highest aggregate score after the first 10 weeks wins and then the subsequent 7 weeks a set of darts. If a tie, then all bonus points will be disregarded and the highest in the tie then wins. If STILL a tie, then the person who scored the highest in the Finals Night wins overall, and if STILL a tie after that, a countback system will be used starting with the individual scores in Week Fifteen, Week Fourteen etc (or Week Nine, Week eight etc... in the case of the halfway winner) until the tie can be split. In the unlikely event this still cant split the tie, a mini prediction game involving Players Championship Event 11 in Milton Keynes on the 19th May will be used to attempt to split it. The same tiebreakers will be used if there is a tie for 2nd place at the end of the competition to decide who wins the dartboard.
The random draw: the three winners above are not eligible to win a further prize in the random draw. If the random draw picks one of these three, then we will move further down the list until we find a winner.
POSTPONED MATCH PROCEDURE: If any match is postponed, this will be removed from the predictions for the night and will not be substituted. HOWEVER the substituted match will still count towards: best average, worst average, most 180's and the total number of 180's on the night.
If any player plays twice, bonuses will be calculated by looking at each match in isolation. For example, if Wright plays once and hits six 180's, and Cross plays twice and hits four 180's in each match, Wright will win the bonus point. Same applies for the averages (they will not be "averaged"). Also bear in mind that any player playing twice can, in theory, win both the highest and lowest average of the week.
If two players achieve the same highest average, lowest average or highest checkout, both will score the relevant number of points. For example, if Wright and Smith both get 10 180's, anyone who picked Wright or Smith will pick up a point. All stats for the high/low average and high checkout will be taken from the match stats at live.dartsdata.com, no other sources will be looked at.
The decision of myself and the site moderators are final. I myself will not be claiming any prize, If I win a week then the prize will revert to the next in line.
Any user inadvertently entering any given week more than once will only have their final set of predictions looked at, regardless of how it scored compared to earlier entries.
If applicable, dart winners will have until the time specified by myself to claim their darts, which will require the winner(s) to send a PM to a nominated person noticing of the address to send the darts too. This will be a time period of at least 48 hours, more often than not 72 hours if the results are posted Friday morning. Due to factors outside my control, the results may not be posted on a Friday morning, however the above time period will still apply.
If the winner does not notify the nominated person within this time than the organisers reserve the right to open the prize up to next in line and/or another random draw winner, depending on the circumstances, with the first person to send their details in getting the prize. This will be repeated to open it up to third place/another random draw winner and so on until the prize(s) is/are claimed.
All entries made by duplicate accounts, Noncey Nigel, Stevie the Poet and/or Fluff will be disregarded.[/quote]
