Watched that 9 darter live from Ando in the pub playing a league match, wow!!! As one of my team mates said his throw is just lovely and one of the best around if not the best! Especially with new darts and to adjust after not getting the grip correct for the 6th dart just superb!!!

Well I'm pretty sure most people had Cullen to only win 8 or 9 legs last night and he rattled in 17 and missed 2 match darts....

Did he not hit one against Davy dodds at the UK open the first time he used his phase 2 darts on TV?

Nip and tuck match and quite interesting to watch. Websters comeback from 4=1 to go in at the next break 5-5 has made this a tight one.

There will be no Englishmen in the semifinals of the World Matchplay for the first time in the tournament's 25-year history.

It's not coming home.

Well not totally true but does make it interesting if we consider Wright is Scottish.
This match is a dead duck though.

Really exciting.
indeed one thing certain on radio r murdoch like murdoch tv is hyper bowling & the over egging of every occasion is required from the commentator (personally think jr & nicholson were streets ahead all those years ago on 5 live at the ally pally final) :IIII:

RTL7 gave a tribute to Braulio Roncero who just passed away. The first 'Dutch' player to play on the PDC Worlds. He was actually a Spanish expat living in Holland but will be missed by many.
Nice touch.

Very good averages tonight and clearly the right, and higher-ranked, players progressed as expected. Well done to Mensur & Snakebite on well deserved wins, hope they have a belting semi-final and give De Zwaan/Anderson a real game in the final, should be a nice contrast of styles come Sunday night for sure!

Darren Webster with a great run to the last eight, was the last Englishman left in the tournament tonight. Classy at the end chucking the towel jokingly at Mensur's face and wishing him well. Onwards & upwards for Webster, in shorter format tournaments the sky's the limit for him.

That's 2 consecutive matches, where at times Snakebite looks like he can hit every treble or double he goes for. These bulbous darts really suit his throw.

And finally to the Wizard. A dreadful start, 76 average for a nervy first session of 5 legs and just one dart at the bull. Had he gone in 1-4 (as I recall him doing against Barney & Wade in 2014 here), he might have had the belief he could still win.

From there though, showed that typical Aussie grit and nailed a D8 completely obscured, 130 on the bull & a beautiful bull, bull, D16 finish to fight back in style, ending with a 96 average (must have been 100 average for the final 16 legs which was great to see), and ok on the doubles. Just not enough on the night - 76% from Wright on the outer ring is quite remarkable, didn't let Simon in at all after that first session! One of those nights I guess.

Again, classy at the end from Wizard with well wishes for Snakebite, clearly telling him "win it now", a good run to the 1/4 finals, has qualified for the Champions League in September for the first time, and onto the World Series in his homeland next month, where he usually puts up a good show. Keep going Simon!

Can't believe bet365 (am I allowed to say that) have de Zwaan at 28/1 to win the worlds, do they fear another Rob Cross?
