2018 PDC World Matchplay- Blackpool- 21st-29th July 2018

Tweet from Burton.

I've fixed the Matchplay tables, taking out players who dropped off the rankings and accounting for the new rule change dealing with the cut-off date. Here are the tables as they currently stand.

Also read this from Burton on Twitter.

It's very tough to get into the Matchplay your first year, as you spot the field half a year start. Since change in 2014 so that the ProTour OoM is a rolling 1-year ranking, only Bunting, Murnan, and Cross have qualified whilst starting the year from 0.

No surprise to see the 3rd best player in the world on that list, though. Oh, and Cross.

Adie needs to get his act together early in the season. Surely far too good a player to miss the Matchplay, and would not need to do much to qualify from the Pro Tour rankings.

Latest table from Burton.

Corey Cadby already up to the 8th ProTour spot for Blackpool—ahead of Adrian Lewis on countback. Rob Cross finished in the 4th spot last year, for comparison.

Burton DeWitt @bsd987

Finally did the projections. Projecting the Matchplay ProTour cut-off to be around £33,250. Last year, it was a record £35,000.

Added minimum earnings for UK Open 3rd Round qualifiers, plus Euro Tour qualifiers.

Where’s van den Bergh? Getting WSOD invites on the back of a couple of performances. Not even set to qualify for proper majors.

Same with Jamie Lewis. He was almost set to loose his tour card. Almost chocked at the Worlds qualifier. Has an incredible run in one tournament and then gets thrust into the WSOD and again looking to fail at qualifying for the majors. Reward regular achievement not one offs.

Updated Matchplay qualification tables. Keegan Brown moves closer to a Matchplay return. No changes from last week as to who makes up the tentative 32 qualifiers.

A pair of Euro Tour qualifications, plus a good run today, moves Jamie Lewis into a tentative Matchplay qualification spot.

Latest update from Burton.

Don't look now*, but a double-qualification night has pulled Max Hopp to within £2,000 of Mervyn King for the last provisional Matchplay spot.

*Too late, you just looked.
