Wednesday 4th July according to PDC article below.

FIVE players will make their BetVictor World Matchplay debuts at the Winter Gardens later this month, while Michael van Gerwen will be the top seed for the prestigious 32-player event.

The 25th staging of the World Matchplay at Blackpool's Winter Gardens will be held from July 21-29, as players compete for "The Phil Taylor Trophy" after the renaming of the honour following the 16-time champion's retirement.

Two-time champion Van Gerwen will top the 16 seeded players, with the world number one aiming to win back the title he claimed in 2015 and 2016.

James Wade, the 2007 champion, is the only other former World Matchplay winner in the field, although number two seed Peter Wright, number 13 seed Raymond van Barneveld and number 16 seed Adrian Lewis have all reached the final.

Lewis' move back to 16th in the world rankings sets the two-time World Champion up for a tasty potential second round tie with Van Gerwen, while Van Barneveld could clash with number four seed Gary Anderson.

However, following the completion of the weekend's European Darts Matchplay in Hamburg, the qualifying field has been confirmed and includes five Blackpool debutants in a strong line-up.

Welshman Jonny Clayton and Germany's Max Hopp secured their World Matchplay debuts following European Tour victories this year, while Jeffrey de Zwaan won his maiden Players Championship title in April.

Another Dutchman, Jermaine Wattimena, and Ireland's Steve Lennon complete the five new faces amongst a high-quality field of ProTour Order of Merit qualifiers.

Richard North held on to claim the final ProTour Order of Merit place, but faced a nervous wait as William O'Connor reached Sunday's European Darts Matchplay final, only to lose out to Van Gerwen as the Romsey ace sealed his Blackpool spot.

The BetVictor World Matchplay will be broadcast on Sky Sports from July 21-29. For tickets, call the Winter Gardens Box Office on 0844 856 1111 or buy online at pdc.seetickets.com.

Thomas Cook Sport Breaks and Hospitality Packages are also available. See www.pdc.tv/tickets for full details and ticket information.

The draw for the BetVictor World Matchplay is expected to be made on Wednesday July 4. Further details will be confirmed at www.pdc.tv in due course.

He'll probably drop himself in it with a stupid comment.
If he hasn't had any media training, to get rid of those little phrases he uses, otherwise it's going to be painful.

He will just keep talking about himself and what he would do. Going to be painful

On the plus side we can play bingo with all his expected phrases on here, a cracking little idea.

A long time ago but when Taylor commentated on a few games at Lakeside one year thought he was pretty good.

He wasn't as much up his own arse then as he later became...I didn't mind him at one stage but he became an annoying patronising little git ..and unbearable if things weren't going his way...

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN is the 8/11 odds-on favourite to win the BetVictor World Matchplay title later in July.

The world number one is aiming to continue his brilliant run of success this year - which has included victories in The Masters and Premier League alongside six European Tour events - with a third World Matchplay triumph in Blackpool.

Van Gerwen is title sponsor BetVictor's 8/11 pre-tournament favourite following the completion of the 32-player field for the prestigious event.

Two-time World Champion Gary Anderson is the 6/1 second favourite with BetVictor, while reigning World Champion Rob Cross is 8/1 and 2017 World Matchplay finalist Peter Wright is 10/1.

Premier League finalist Michael Smith is 28/1 as he chases the title, while 2007 World Matchplay winner James Wade is amongst five players rated at 33/1 by the sponsors.

Think there might be some value in the players who will not be knackered because of the travel to and from Vegas and Shanghai, prior to Blackpool.

Adie and Suljovic at 33/1 are most likely of the non WSOD players.
