With just 2 events to go before the cut-off, 24 of the 32 Matchplay spots are mathematically secure, with Steve Beaton, John Henderson, and James Wilson all but officially safe. Jelle Klaasen leads Richard North on 8-event countback for the final spot.

Dobey needs a good run at ET9 or go really deep in PC event today.

Richard North hasn't qualified for the European event and Norris no certainty to hang on to his seeded position and wouldn't qualify from the Pro Tour OOM.

Should be an interesting 5 days.

Update from Burton.

Adrian Lewis's quarter-final today means Alan Norris will be knocked out of the World Matchplay if either of the following happen in Hamburg:

1. Kim Huybrechts wins 1 match, OR
2. Joe Cullen, Jelle Klaasen, Benito van de Pas, or Mervyn King win the title

Darren Webster secures being seeded for the Matchplay for the first time, as 27 of 32 spots are mathematically secure. Richard North edges into the provisional final spot.

For all the shit Bunting gets for not being in the top end of the world rankings hes still doing ok for himself. Top 32 in the rankings, doing well enough on the pro tour to get into most majors, earning a nice pay packet each year.

Would be nice to see him at the latter stages of a tournament again but hes not really failing.

I agree, steady top 32 player and good to watch, I always want him to do well.

But the only reason anyone on here talks about him 'failing' is simply because Rout said he was the third best player in the world

To be fair, Bunting himself does not really get the grief on here, its mostly aimed at those people like Rout who spouted his rubbish about how great bunting was and there was only 2 players in the world better than him. People like Col who then defended Rout.

No one denied the guy was a handy player, the slagging was done more to rile up rout and as I said when Bunting joined the PDC, when his first 2 years were up he would be in the top 32 but outside the top 16 and I was proven right.

He is currently 22nd in the Main OoM
i am so sorry for my actions these last ten years, i'm going through a tough time

Far from failing. Started off great in the PDC, making Major quarter finals and a semi-final, finishing inside the Top 32 in his first season.

Made a commercial decision to change his darts, and this clearly did not work for him, and despite going back to original set up, and his confidence dropped following a run of poor results. Back to playing well, and as articulated by him at a recent ET event, he feels he is currently playing the best darts of his career.

Currently 22nd in the OOM, however is good enough to get into the Top 16 by the end of next year.

Funnily enough with the 3rd best player thing, Darts Database had him 3rd in their rankings in 2014, so not just Rout who was of that opinion.

Yep, that demonstrates that the DDB's points system is just as flawed as Rout's talent assessment abilities.

The winner of the category C Romanian Classic has received more than three times as many points as a Challenge Tour tournament winner gets.

Because Jeffrey de Zwaan failed to qualify last night, Keegan Brown has qualified for the Matchplay. 4 spots left up for grabs, with 19 players alive to claim them.

Updated Matchplay qualification table after Day 1 in Hamburg. Lennon and Klaasen on the cusp of safety.

Never used against armchairfan. Some say he was the reason for the decline of TSOD. :omg:

Firstly the forum is far from in decline, this rhetoric is being spouted by those who are either using it to further their own agendas, or have an issue with the BDO side of the game.

And yes, Armchairfan was a great poster and a loss to the forum, however with the blessing and approval of the darts statisticians on Twitter, we have used their material to maintain the stats and data that were posted by ACF.

Over and above that we have members doing their bit, yourself included to keep the forum updated, and it is to their great credit that the loss of ACF has been mitigated to the extent it has.

Gerwyn Price's win means Raymond van Barneveld will be seeded 13th in Blackpool. Potential Last 16 against Gary Anderson.
