Pro tour (Tour average 90, 79 players averaging over 90)
Challenge tour (Tour average 81, 5 players averaging over 90, 136 over 80)
Development tour (Tour average 74, 1 player averages over 90, 46 over 80)

Id recommend anyone doing Qschool to study the stats on darts connect to see where you need to be. Its looking at the minute that to get a tour card your going to at a minimum be able to average in the mid-late 80s possibly into the the early 90s for the weekend and ever then to keep your tour card you need to be able to average 90 all season over 20 events to get into the top 64.

Anyone wanting to do challenge tour purely need to be in the mid 80s to get into the money for the season, late 80s for the top end of the rankings

Development tour an 80 average would be enough to get into the money parts of tournaments.
Yes because everything in a game of darts is purely on averages!!

But it gives a damn good guide. I’d suggest that over a 12 month season, there wouldn’t be too many anomalies.

An average of 45, and a 51 after 10 matches. There is hope for me yet.
Thinking of one.

Averages have been proved to mean little over the years and it seems Sky have a hard on for them but in reality, Averages are only a guide as to how well a player is playing and mostly only scoring, You could have a player averaging 110+ up until finishing or setting up finishing comes into it...Says they are scoring well and nothing more, You could have a player that plays only to hold their own throw for example and against the throw chucks every dart off the board and could win 6-5 not attempting to challenge their opponents throw at all and would have an average of 50 odd at best...Does that make them crap?

At Challenge Tour level, yes, absolutely.
Its not all about averages, but it’s abkut winning. A player averaging 40-50 is going to win very very few matches if any.

In a one off game averages don’t mean a lot. Even in the open draw you don’t need high averages to go al long way. A decent draw and the knowledge at the CT level players just aren’t as consistent give players the opportunity to win. However over the course of a year averages are a great indicator of who will do well. Invariably those with ge highest averages over the most matches are at the top of the rankings.
