MICHAEL VAN GERWEN will begin his bid to win a fifth successive Dutch Darts Masters title on Saturday in Zwolle against either Mike De Decker or Terry Jenkins.

World number one Van Gerwen has enjoyed remarkable success in the PDC European Tour's recent visits to the Netherlands, winning each title since 2014.

Van Gerwen claimed his third European Tour win in five events so far this year at last weekend's European Darts Grand Prix, and begins his bid for another title on Saturday night at the second round stage.

Belgian youngster De Decker and vastly experienced Jenkins will clash in one of 16 first round ties on Friday at the IJsselhallen in Zwolle.

Last weekend's Sindelfingen runner-up, James Wade, plays Spain's Cristo Reyes, while Jonny Clayton - a European Tour winner last month - meets Josh Payne.

Former European Tour event winners Adrian Lewis and Steve Beaton will play Host Nation Qualifiers Jan Dekker and Jeffrey de Graaf respectively.

Dutchman Christian Kist takes on Kyle Anderson while Jermaine Wattimena's reward for qualification on Thursday night was a tie with Adam Huckvale, a PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour event winner last weekend.

The Dutch Darts Masters will be broadcast throughout the weekend for PDCTV-HD Subscribers , and through a series of bookmakers' websites worldwide.

Tweet from Rob Cross explaining his withdrawal:

Unfortunately I’ve had to pull out of the Dutch Darts Masters.
I’ve had chest pains for a few weeks and after consulting doc in Aberdeen last night, I’ve damaged cartilage in my sternum. I need to get a scan early next week and rest before the O2.
Apologies to the fans in Zwolle. https://t.co/y3JIObWme4

Dekker played well and a deserved winner.

Adie on the other hand was poor and spraying his darts all over the place.

ENTRIES have been confirmed for the PDC European Tour events in Gibraltar and Denmark in June ahead of the forthcoming UK Qualifiers.

The sport's top players will return to 'The Rock' from June 8-10 for the sixth staging of the PDC European Tour event, which will see 48 players competing across three days at the Victoria Stadium.

Michael Smith will be defending his title in the tournament, while two-time winner Michael van Gerwen and 2014 champion James Wade are also amongst the 16 seeded players.

The European Tour will then visit Denmark for the first time from June 22-24, where the Brondby Hallen in Copenhagen will host the year's eighth £135,000 tournament.

Van Gerwen and Smith will be joined by the likes of Peter Wright and World Champion Rob Cross in the tournament.

Each PDC European Tour event will be broadcast worldwide in PDCTV-HD as well as via a series of bookmakers' websites.

The field of qualifiers for each tournament will include 18 players from the respective UK Qualifiers, which will be held at Arena MK in Milton Keynes on Friday May 18.

Can't imagine his game being completely gone, he's too much of a natural for that. Think it's a matter of getting things straight in the head for Adrian.
