But a PL footballer would not, if sent off, then be in the pub next door having a beer at half time.

There is a difference between professional and amateur sport.

I love non league football. I pay to watch it (£8 if anyone is interested). But I would not pay, say £25, as I have done to watch Wigan in the top flight.

And, if we are having a serious discussion, many folk will pay £25 to watch pdc darts (not just ally pally ) but not many would pay £25 to watch the wdt would they?

All am suggesting is that may be one factor is that the players are seen as 'stars' in 1 code whilst in the other you can have a beer at 'half time' with players before and after they play.
This is where your argument suffers, people pay £25.00 and don't watch the darts, watch any PL audience half of them don't even know who's on stage, they are just there for the party atmosphere. By it's very nature entertainment darts attracts audiences from a certain demographic and limited I.Q. who attend in a lame attempt to be cool and get their face on TV.......very sad.
Still gets people in though..........which in turn makes the PDC money.

The BDO would kill for 10% of those people to turn up to this.
Please go and have a guess in the ticket sales thread :D

I admit it does but not for the right reasons in my book....... hence why I class it as Darts Entertainment.

I doubt the BDO care if people pay at Lakeside to watch the darts or sit there doing their knitting, its still a person on a seat paying money to be in there. Exactly the same principle.

Is this still going ahead?
Pfffh
Can't see it myself.

Even Bros had the dignity to cancel their concerts due to lack of sales and I bet they sold more than 20 per concert.

"I Owe You Nothing" could be the soundtrack to the BDO.

When, will they get their pictures in the papers?

"Rumour has it"

It's 12 days after the cutoff and it's still a rumour. Pathetic.

It is an invitational event with contracts having to be returned by 25th , if anyone not accepted by then others would have to be contacted and sent contracts to sign ! Today is only the 27th so not long really .

Sensible decision, wouldn't want to run a comp with players missing, oh...........hang on.

How do the PDC confirm a field for their major events the day (2 days at a push) after the qualifying period ends?

Players have to sign contracts there. So to use that as the excuse is a load of shiiiite.

I bet you that should say joint 5th and not 9th
Maybe but what do the losing first round ladies then get?
Prize money is as follows:

Men

1 8000
2 4000
3 2000
4 2000
5 1000
6 1000
7 1000
8 1000
9 750
10 750
11 750
12 750
13 750
14 750
15 750
16 750
17 500
18 500
19 500
20 500
21 500
22 500
23 500
24 500
25 500
26 500
27 500
28 500
29 500
30 500
31 500
32 500

34000

Ladies

1 3000
2 1500
3 1000
4 1000
5 750
6 750
7 750
8 750
9 500
10 500
11 500
12 500
13 500
14 500
15 500
16 500

13500

= £47,500

Plus £2000 9 dart and £1000 High Checkout = £50,500
The ladies prize money is ridiculously high there in comparison to the quite poor mens pot...seeing as it's the men who the TV station will be interested in..and the a TV viewers and most ticket buyers then the men should have a far bigger percentage of this money..
It's not like Wimbledon with equal participants and the ladies matches are equally as big a draw to TV and spectators....BDO will always struggle to get TV deals unless they sell the product on the back of the top male players they have left.

You didn't read his post properly. He meant in comparison to the men.

If anything the men are being short changed and the women's should stay as it is now.
