You have this option here using phpBB, why are we forced to sign up and give our details before we can contribute. My data is precious to me.Ginge wrote:Can Paddy please name a site where people can leave comments/posts without registering? Im struggling to think of any.

The point is that they have CHOSEN to not allow people to even read without having to sign up, very few places ever do that, you could make reading it public but choose not to.Ginge wrote:Can you name any forum, bulletin board, news website etc... which allows you to leave a comment without some form of registration?Paddy McGinty wrote:You have this option here using phpBB, why are we forced to sign up and give our details before we can contribute.Ginge wrote:Can Paddy please name a site where people can leave comments/posts without registering? There will be some, but that's not the point, we are forced to sign up here giving our valuable data before we are allowed to post. This doesn't have to be the case but it's a decision made my the Admin. In my mind this is no different to being made to sign up to use Facebook.Ginge wrote:Can you name any forum, bulletin board, news website etc... which allows you to leave a comment without some form of registration?Paddy McGinty wrote:You have this option here using phpBB, why are we forced to sign up and give our details before we can contribute.Ginge wrote:Can Paddy please name a site where people can leave comments/posts without registering? And you have CHOSEN to make people sign up and share their personal details if they want to contribute.........two wrongs don't make a right.nikkiboy wrote:The point is that they have CHOSEN to not allow people to even read without having to sign up, very few places ever do that, you could make reading it public but choose not to.Ginge wrote:Can you name any forum, bulletin board, news website etc... which allows you to leave a comment without some form of registration?Paddy McGinty wrote:You have this option here using phpBB, why are we forced to sign up and give our details before we can contribute.Ginge wrote:Can Paddy please name a site where people can leave comments/posts without registering? It's a group designed for BDO fanatics and players, it has little interest to anyone else. If someone has a genuine interest in BDO darts they can join our great community of darts discussion. They are free to leave at anytime, unlike here we do not ask members to supply personal information, all they need to do is click the join button.nikkiboy wrote:Paddy you can read her without signing up, you have chosen not to allow that on real fanatics why?Paddy McGinty wrote:There will be some, but that's not the point, we are forced to sign up here giving our valuable data before we are allowed to post. If you avoid a question by asking one in reply, you have lost the argument.

Probably because you have to register to post on a forum. Just a wild stab in the dark, like.

But once they sign away all their privacy to Facebook and click that one button to join you as admin then have access to their full names, phone number, email address, location, school history, work history, relationship status and the ability to view who all of their friends are and each and every photo they have ever take.Paddy McGinty wrote:It's a group designed for BDO fanatics and players, it has little interest to anyone else. And you try and lecture us about privacy because to sign up here you need an email address to register
Will you ask Rout for me why he won't change the settings to an open group so that people can read the comments without having to sign up?

You have it ass about face, if they want to use Facebook that is a contract between the individual and Facebook, nothing to do with us. It depends on each users individual privacy settings as to how much others can see. I can see as a non-user you are not familiar with Facebook protocols......nikkiboy wrote:But once they sign away all their privacy to Facebook and click that one button to join you as admin then have access to their full names, phone number, email address, location, school history, work history, relationship status and the ability to view who all of their friends are and each and every photo they have ever take.Paddy McGinty wrote:It's a group designed for BDO fanatics and players, it has little interest to anyone else. No Pads you are completely missing the whole point and trying to blame your failings/choices on a third party.Paddy McGinty wrote: You have it ass about face, if they want to use Facebook that is a contract between the individual and Facebook, nothing to do with us. YOU can make YOUR group open to view to non Facebook members, YOU CHOOSE not to. There are thousands of Facebook groups out there that choose to allow non members to read, YOU have CHOSEN not to do that thus making it impossible to read unless you sign up to Facebook first and YOUR GROUP next thus losing you anonymity and giving YOU control over who reads and who is barred from reading.

Control? much more control exerted here, look at Gary for instance how many times have you banned him? Is he still on pre-mod?nikkiboy wrote:No Pads you are completely missing the whole point and trying to blame your failings/choices on a third party.Paddy McGinty wrote: You have it ass about face, if they want to use Facebook that is a contract between the individual and Facebook, nothing to do with us. Gary is free to read each and every post on here as we do not bar them to non member and people on pre-mod.Paddy McGinty wrote:Control? much more control exerted here, look at Gary for instance how many times have you banned him?
