So glad we just went on the day had a chilled out weekend in Chester , little practice in the Town Crier pub opposite Chester station , in fairness Deta was pretty hopeless I even won 4 legs against her ! Had a tough group and got better and better up to Beau ! Final weren't great by either of the ladies , but 4 times Welsh open champion takes some doing .

I bet some people were relieved at the result of the mens final. Hamilton only there because he double booked PDC Q School with some exbos :D

I'd actually be interested to know what reception he got, how he was received etc. any hostility because he was a PDC stalwart for many years?

Been at several events where Andy has played and he has been made welcome , remember Andy had never really done the BDO tour before.
Seems to mix in well and gets on with everyone , said he had fell out of love with the game .

Probably because he kept losing, felt he had to take the step down to an easier level. Fair play to him.

The BDO needs strengthening at the top end. Players like Hamilton switching can only be positive news for them although from the other players perspective theres another player who will take his share of rather limited prize funds.

Oh I agree but he would have done Q School back in January had he been in the country. He booked the Aussie exbos thinking he wouldn't need to do Q School but he thought wrong. I have no doubt he will be entering next time round.

I'm just surprised that a PDC World finalist couldn't get the job done when taking a "step down".

Time for Ginge to dig out the Blackburn Rovers comparison.....and Nottingham Forest were European champions you know so surely they would see off young Upstarts like Manchester City !!

Prior to this weekend he had only scored in 3 events, all in April, no idea if that is when he started playing events or if he did so in the months previous. If he only started in April, he has missed half the qualifying year.

Will have got into the Top 50 on the seasonal table after the weekend, methinks. Top 12 scores counts so still 8 "boxes" to fill. By comparison, all of the top 30 (bar Durrant and Monty, with 7 each) have double the boxes filled already.

This was his 6th BDO event and started in Feb at the Scots

And he wasn’t at the bdo qualifier

Looks the Welsh Open was exactly the sort of weekend the BDO is and should be about. A multi comp weekend. Lot's of players of all ages and both sexes with Pairs etc thrown in as well. Even the players who did well as what the BDO should be about.

He messaged Friday morning to let organisers know he couldn't make it , wish at comps others would do this can save a lot of time .
