Its a sad state of affairs really and at this point I don't see how it can get any better.
Probably shows promotion is only half the problem. The other half of the problem is people quite simply don't want to watch that pool of players when there is another better pool of players (overall) on the go. No level of promotion is going to change that.
I agree, no one even knew it was on when he was explaining to people what they were for, and one lad even said "no way I can get to Germany for Saturday", when he explained it was in Preston which is only 30 mins away from where I live he still said no.

Well obviously the forums assassination of the event did indeed work, just look at the outcome.

Surely that was completely usurped by the 8000 self confessed BDO fanatics who all bought tickets?

Interesting, that according to Paddy this forum had a greater influence over the 8000 die hard BDO fans attendance at the WDT, than their supposed loyalty and fanaticism.

Maybe the problem was that it clashed with the Everly Brothers evening. Did this guy on twitter say where he would have chosen to go had he known about the darts.

Only one session of the WDT rated in Freesports top 10 that week. The Wednesday session with 10,000 viewers.
A week earlier and it wouldn't have made the top 10.

Beaten by amateur rugby, Polish and Swedish speedway and German touring cars.

To be fair I would expect those sports to beat it..

No arm wrestling beating it this time then?

Just looked and the 10th rated programme has 9k so all the other 6 sessions less than that.

No surprise the only night they appear in the top 10 was the night there was no other darts on.

Saying that the figures for the other darts hardly look amazing. All sessions between 50 and 95k by the looks.

Personally always watch PDC darts on Sky, PDC tv or whatever terrestrial channel it is on, but given the proliferation of free streams available for all sports and the continuing increase in Sky subscription charges, it is no surprise that Sky viewing numbers are on the wane.
