Surely Duzza must look at the crowds, big pdc tournaments etc and be thinking he needs to have a crack at the big time and try and win a PDC major while he’s in his prime.

It is still the big talking point in darts will the best of the BDO switch.

It is discussed every year. You remember Durrant because most want him to switch.
But there was many discussed last year mainly from Europe. And also others from the BDO top 32.

Sure it's discussed on here but only realy from a general interest point of view, we are a bunch of darts geeks after all.
There is no excitement anymore about the switchers, especially as most don't get past q school anymore.

It gets discussed every year because its the only place players can switch from everybody else is under the PDC umbrella.

The issue I have with Glenns comments, and a lot of the people in the BDO seem to have the same opinion, is this "Well the PDC can attract large crowds, so the interest in there and we should be getting them"

The problem with it is its the PDC that are getting the crowds, not the sport of darts as a whole. Its like saying 20/20 packs out stadiums so every stadium should be packed during 1 day and 4 day cricket matches.

The PDC have monopolized the top end of darts and there is only so much of it to go around. The World Cup is actually a prime example of forward thinking by the PDC, they had it in Newcastle and it did terrible crowds so they moved it out to a different country where darts was on the rise and now it gets packed out.

As i've said before hold the BDO World Trophy in Holland.... it will get a bigger crowd

The BDO arent going to want to run one of their major events in a totally different country to the one it "covers". Torre Open doesnt count as that isnt a "major event" under any definition

If thats the road it needs to go down, get the NDB to organise it.

If the whole level of the BDO involvement is "just using their rankings", it isnt really them running it hundreds of events happen worldwide which are seeded using the BDO rankings, doesnt mean they have any other involvement whatsoever.

Taking it abroad would never happen as it is admitting it has failed.

It's summed up in one sentence, the PDC actively worked at getting bums on seats whereas because Lakeside usually sells out the BDO have sat back and expected people to turn up 'because they always do'

Times change and people are being hit in the pocket at the moment, you need to convince them that they want to go nowadays.

It probably would be, but the last line of my last post is the reason why it wont happen.
